Also, it's been documented in a few actor interviews that FFoD had already begun recording before the recording for the movie itself began. | usually sequels are made during or shortly after the first movie is being shot/animated. |

I heard that it was "The Return of Optimus Prime" that was supposed to be the sequel.
Kind of makes more sense to me.
| As some one else said, RoOP was a cop out to make the soccer mom's stop complaining that their kids were crying over Optimus. Even the guy that wrote it hated it. I didn't mind the "hate plague" idea but bringing Prime back, especially after Dark Awakening, completely ruins Optimus for me. Sic Transit Gloria America |

Anyway, if you watch the extras on the newest TFTM DVD, you'll see the even the creators now realize that killing Optimus Prime was a big mistake.
Besides, "Dark Awakening" would have been a terrible way to end Prime's existence. I really lost a lot of respect for Rodimus after that episode. Wasting all those resources on a "Funeral ArK" and then thinking no one would bother the remains, even after learning about the existence of the Quintessons. TROOP made me one happy fan. - Backscatter "Megatron failed. I lived...but changed. Since then, I feel only hatred ..." |

That whinny poopypants shouldnt be allowed to lead the autobots on a camping trip much less a war. They definately could have found a better way, but as has been stated, they knew it was a mistake and had already written themselves into a corner with dark awakening. OPTIMUS=TRANSFORMERS. That character is iconic in ways the show never could be, even if he had never been rubbed out. |
