i found a copy of generations on ebay for like $50 but just wondering if id have any luck looking elsewhere

Generations was $50 (well, after shipping) when it came out and has held its value pretty well, so I doubt you're going to find it for any cheaper than the one you saw on ebay. I haven't seen it at any stores in a while.

 

I think I bought my copy of generations years ago for about 50, and since then they have revised it, so make sure you know which version you are getting.

Some of the other books they have at HLJ IIRC, when I preordered MP05 I also ordered some books, namely the Binaltech guide, the Robot Masters Guide, and Transformers 1st series complete.

I know they have the Armada yearbook there too.

 

Does anyone have a link to a pic of that book, I'm not sure of which one you're referring to.

Hmmm... Mines's the "revised" edition apparently (didn't know there were two until I saw those links!".
Think I paid around £30 two years ago for mine - I was lucky to get it from an online UK store as it was his only copy.

It's in Japanese for the most part. All toys that were released in the West feature their names written in English and sometimes Engrish ("Roadbaster", "Load Zarak").

 

It's an excellent visual aid if you're looking to sort out a G1 collection. While it's not as comprehensive as the Cybertronian guides, it is a useful book, especially for doing a headcount of a collection.
It's the rest of them that I need to figure out. I half wonder if doing a count of what I don't have would be faster.

That's one of the best parts of the book. Some of the designs are rather 'interesting'.

 

I love the art gallery, though it's a bit of a mixed bag.

For instance, you have some gorgeous stuff like this but you also have some fugly-beyond-all-repair stuff like this.

Still a great guide and I prefer it over those Cybertronian books (which were too expensive for my blood, with the only advantage over Generations being tech spec info, which can easily be found online).
