I landed in Canada last Friday for a year's visa, and the other day I made it down to the local Toys R'Us. Sadly, it was mostly cleaned out of TFs, but I did pick up a Lugnutz (who I picture as Cy-Kill in my recent Guardian-Renegade story) there.
However, I did see the Shadow Recon Team (a re-deco of the original Recon team of Jolt, Sixspeed and Reverb - or Hop, Blit and Bumper, if you prefer!) and I read the background paragraph included, and I was pleasantly surprised at the nod it gave to the television series: Quote: |
This team has been through too much to split up now that the universe has been saved. They’ve taken their orders to explore the galaxy seriously, outfitting themselves with cloaking devices so as to explore new worlds and new civilizations without disturbing the natives. Just because they’re off adventuring across space doesn’t mean they’ve forgotten their friends, of course. Every once in a while, when they discover something particularly exciting, they head back to Earth, pick up Bud, Lori and Coby and go on one more spin across the cosmos.
| Maybe it's the fact that because of the loads of languages used on European packs, I usually don't see the paragraphs you see in North America, but I found that this piece wasa fitting coda to what was (as Galaxy Force, anyway) the best TF series since Beast Wars - and hinted at the potential for further storytelling out there in the GF timeline.
Anyone else catch a similar send-off to a favourite series of theirs?
Gary Fate/Trans Form - a Fate/Stay Night-TF crossover. Transformers Redemption: Worlds Distant - Nebulos' role in the Redemption storyline.

IIRC, the repaint of Prime has something like that on the back of it's box.

With the rediscovery of the lost colony worlds and the reunification of the TRANSFORMERS race after millions of years, OPTIMUS PRIME has become the leader of far more people than he ever could have imagined. CYBERTRON PRIMUS has been reactivated, the Planet Keys returned to their rightful place on CYBERTRON, and GALVATRON and his DECEPTICONS all but defeated. It is time, he thinks, for a new golden era of peace in the galaxy, and he has ordered the construction of a fleet of starships so that the AUTOBOTS might explore the galaxy around them, bringing peace and justice wherever they go.
While many of the AUTOBOT soldiers who fought with him are choosing to remove their weapons systems now that the war is over, OPTIMUS PRIME has decided to keep his, not because he hopes war will once again come, but as a reminder of what once was. He hopes to serve as a reminder to all those who would bring violence and tyranny to the universe that there are mighty warriors who will stand against them always.
