I was watching the animated movie last night at about 3 in the morn, and I thought to myself, "self... something here is amiss..." Then my mind began to wander. This is what I came up with. It's entirely possible the Matrix of Leadership has been around all this time, since Megatron is both aware of its existence and acknowledges Prime's possession of it when Unicron prompts him, but thought it to be a useless artifact of the Autobots. After seeing that Unicron fears it, and the powers it possesses, Galvatron seems to turn an interested eye towards it. Note how in Season 3, Galvatron does end up with the Matrix in hand, but upon noting how it can't help a Decepticon* like himself, discards it, and seemingly forgets about it afterwards. *Scourge aside, but it's been speculated that this is because he was reformatted from Thundercracker, who was only a Decepticon because it entailed breaking things. TC's character has always been described as a bad guy who doesn't have evil tendancies. This could explain why Scourge was able to use it to some half-assed degree. Also, a bit more hackneyed than that, I noticed how not only is it Astrotrain's idea to dump to deadweight of the injured Decepticons, but he's also the one putting the crown on Starscream's head during the coronation. Conspiracy? Could the two of them have planned to dump Megatron together in a seemingly innocent way? Maybe I just need more sleep. What do you guys think?
The Matrix has been around for a long time. The five faces darkness shows this. I don't know when Megatron acknowledged the matrix if he really knew what he was talking about or if just heard the term leadership and then applied it to Prime without thinking about it. Galvatron just didn't know how to use the Matrix. It is possible that he it but in his chest instead of wearing it as a necklace or placing it into his cannon he might had been able to draw power from it. Bludgeon was another Decipticon that could use the power of the matrix.
True, Galvatron is like Paris Hilton and the Matrix can be likened to her dogs. More of a fashion accesory in bizarre ways than anything else.
You think that's bad look at this I just noticed. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?p=1009169#post1009169 Astrotrain the 2nd shooter? You know you've got a valid point there. He could have made the excuse for Starscream's benefit. I think Thunderwing also used the Matrix, but maybe he just wore it.
Very interesting....and get this......1st wave of Classics....Astrotrain and Starscream...coincidence??? I think not! I do like this idea you've come up with!
I showed the scene to a buddy, and he was down with the idea... Maybe we've stumbled upon a Decepticon Conspiracy plot? Lock the houses everyone, your phone lines may be tapped.
The evidence of the conspiracy keeps piling up. Remember the episode "Triple Takeover"? Astrotrain was in a plot to overthrow Megatron and Starscream was in on it. Although A-Train was using Starscream and was actually in it with Blitzwing. Thing is, they failed. Astrotrain may have realized that Starscream would be a better ally for getting Megs outta the way, and then easier to overthrow later.
Actually, the Matrix used Thunderwing in a manner of speaking... it took over his dead husk and it filled the Matrix with a desire to experience the dark things in the universe. Prime would later purify the Matrix with his own "purity" and than shove it right up Unicron's tailpipe.
Well by weight, he could have meant mass, which some people use interchangeably. http://www.zyra.org.uk/mass.htm "You can see this has to make sense by the fact that in space, things are described as "weightless". But, they aren't "massless", and still have mass regardless of where they are. Rockets pushing a spacecraft forwards have more to push if the spacecraft has more stuff onboard." And now you know, and knowing is half the battle.
Well, we do know that Hot Rod and Megatron conspired together to oust Optimus, perhaps Starscream and Astrotrain conspired to replace Megatron? (The Hot Rod/Megatron Conspiracy is from a website a while back.)
Hmmmm, the mass/space issue isn't as crazy as it sounds - with more Decepticons on board, Astrotrain would use a lot of energon slowing down for Cybertron - when he said 'or we'll never make it back to Cybertron' he could have been simplifying his explanation when the truth was they would make it to Cybertron - but then overshoot it! Just playing Devil's Advocate with that one. I'd like to think that Starscream conspired with Astrotrain and others to get Megatron out of the way when the opportunity presented itself, with AT making an excuse for someone to lighten the load. It was a Constructicon who suggested this - don't forget who supplied the music at the coronation. It could be argued that SS had his co-conspirators perform key tasks at the coronation, such as the fanfare, and the actual placing of the crown. It's worth noting that the other original seekers were thrown out into space too, showing that Starscream didn't care who he had to step over to get what he wanted. It fits with his general character!
Seeing as Astrotrain is big enough INSIDE to allow Devastator to combine, I'd say there's shenanigans going on.
Let's not forget that Shockwave was at the Battle of Autobot City, was nowhere to be found in Astrotrain, but then showed up at Starscream's coronation along with Skywarp and Thundercracker, who were thought to have been thrown out of Astrotrain. Then Soundwave, one of to Megatron's most loyal Decepticons, did nothing to stop him from being thrown out. Even the Insecticons show up later on, without a scratch. It's obvious. Unicron was controlling Shockwave who drew up plans to weaken Autobot resistance and remove Megatron from command during the battle. He also had the Insecticons, Soundwave, Skywarp, Thundercracker, and Astrotrain in on it. Knowing that Starscream would try to off Megatron, he told Astrotrain that he was to allow Starscream to throw him off, even though it wasn't needed since objects in space will continue to move at the same pace which means that they would have made it to Cybertron eventually anyway. Thundercracker, Skywarp, and the Insecticons were to follow him off to make sure Megatron didn't suspect anyone other than Starscream and to ensure that he found his way to Unicron. Soundwave was also promised two new cassettes in the form of dinosaurs if he stayed away. Unicron furthered the plan by using the bodies of Skywarp, Thundercracker, and the Insecticons as portals to transport his galactic conspiracy henchmen, Cyclonus, Scourge, and the Sweeps to the scene, all while transporting Thundercracker, Skywarp, and the Insecticons back to the coronation to meet up with Shockwave. Megatron became Galvatron and killed Starscream, and everyone hailed. True story.
