Best: Silverstreak - great poseability, easily identifiable as the G1 reworking it is intended to be. Shockblast/Meister would be the best if not for the fact the arms come off too easily.

Worst: Optimus Prime - small arms, stiff legs with little poseability, and the head is partially-hidden in robot mode. Dead End comes a close second with a strangely-located windscreen in robot mode, and an engine that just won't sit in place properly.

Best: Alt Wheeljack - looks great in that color
    Worst: Rocochet -stickers suck

honorable mention: Mirage, Tracks, Dead End, laserwave, new ravage - all have great alt modes.

    Best: Skids

An original vehicle mode (butt-ugly mind you, but original) that fits well with the character, and an amazingly poseable robot mode that actually looks good. A bit back-heavy.

    Worst: Grimlock/Wheeljack

I find this bot mode to be about the ugliest of the ugly. Nothing really flows, and the floppy wheels on his forearms anoy me. relatively lose joints make him difficult to pose after a few transformations.

    Most underappreciated: Sideswipe

Seriously, this guy doesn't look that bad. Sure, he has poseability issues, but its not as if he is alone on this. The S2000 and other Vipers share most of his flaws. I find it funny that nobody seems to hate Deadend or Sunstreaker with such a passion when they are for the most part, the same mold. Heck, at least Sideswipe doesn't have the colour inconsistency that Sunstreaker does.

I agree with the arms thing. In fact, when the Alts were still new, I found Hound the most disappointing because of that. However, I dont agree on the wheels. I'll take hydraulic wheels over steering ones anyday.

New here but I thought I'd add my two cents.

    Best Alternator: Jazz

    Worst Alternator: Sideswipe

In fact, Sideswipe looked so bad that I took it upon myself to make him one of my favorite. Take a look through the link below.

Best: Silverstreak, though I like Hound's transformation better.

Worst: Sideswipe. I agree that it's the worst of the three Vipers. Handless Rumble looks as though it could compete....we'll see.

    If we're going strictly Alternators:

    Best - Silverstreak
    Worst - Richochette

Ummm... wow, what a difference a deco can make.

If we include BTs, The second version of Smokescreen is the best.

Best ones are the Suburu WRX and Mazda RX8 molds.

And the worst is Optimus Prime.....ugh. Just ugh!

I love all of the Alternators/BTs! theyare all awesome! so i would have to rate the best and worst on articulation!

The best would go to Miester/shockblast. Great transformation and nice articulation for posing.

The worst would go to Sideswipe/deadend/sunstreaker. I love the car mode and the robot mode - but I dislike how they are so stiff in the legs. Unable to stance those figures for nice action poses:/

Best: Mirage is by far the most impressive toy. The transformation is innovative, the bot mode is incredibly detailed and articulated.

HM: Jazz is a very strong second place with tremendous detail (the front seats as chest were amazing on Smokescreen, but the backseats being incorporated into the transformation is just mind-blowing.

Worst: By far, again, Sideswipe. Its the one figure that I just can't display. The articulation is bad, the proportions are meh, the hood hanging off the ass is lame. But the worst aspect of the mold is the head. Just hideous.

Side note: My favorite is definitely Prowl, I love all the articulation and the big blocky look of the robot. This is after the leg mod, of course.

I'd say my fave is a toss up between Mirage and Hot Rodimus (I know, while technically Kiss Play, I just consider HR an Alt cause it pretty much is)

Least...Camshaft I guess. Even Prowl is kinda lame but it's Prowl and a police car so the failings of the mold are offset somewhat. Cashaft just looks and feels cheap.

I would say, Skids is my best pick, with Wheeljack being #2 best, Love the color, and the head mold.
worst so far, would be Prime,(Legs needed to extend out longerand be alot tighter) with Windcharger in at #2 worst (nedded that barrel, and a neck).

Best: Mirage. Solid transformation -once you get past the weirdness that is his chest plate- and slick lines in both modes. Great use of his engine to create twin blasters and I love the head design. Extra credit -though I know he's not an Alt- goest to KP Rodimus... flip down visor and arm blaster add ons were great!

Worst: Grimlock and Wheeljack. Don't get me wrong. These are good toys in their own right and they represent the character they're supposed to very well, but -as another stated- when I have to spend 15 minutes transforming them and being ever so careful so their arms and legs don't pop off... well, that's a big minus in my book. A $20 toy just shouldn't be that complex.

On the Decepticons: It kind of sucked the way many of them were shoehorned into the line because of fans wanting them -myself included- and the way Autobot remolds were shoved aside and forgotten about for them really sucks. I feel that the upcoming Rumble and Ravage are really big missed opportunities because they should have been other characters. I mean, there are Decepticons that exist with car alt modes that would have fit those designs IMO better than those two. Dead End seriously got the shaft I think and would have looked better in Rumble's maroon with his own unique mold and transformation instead of being a Sunstreaker clone. Shockwave, Decepticharge and many others where just pointless and while I liked Swindle... I really would have loved to see that mold in black as Trailbreaker as intended. Nemesis Prime gets by because I really like the evil Prime concept... and he seems to have less glaring flaws than Prime too.

On the Autobot repaints: I have no problems with the remolds -though I agree with those that feel that Hasbro should have not done characters like Grimlock as they weren't cars-, but the straight up repaints should have been chosen better. I mean... Ricochet, Rollbar and Camshaft were... crap. I own them more for completions sake and feel that their were better character choices to use than such mediocre characters. However, they did them and that's that.

On Optimus Prime: Let me first say that, by no means do I feel that an Optimus Prime Alt should never have been made, but nor do I feel that this should have been him. The pickup, all around, even if it had been Trailbreaker as a lot of fans wanted is just a bad design. It's not a bad toy, mind you, but it is a bad Alternator. I expect more than that, but give it credit for trying as I do feel that a truck probably shouldn't have been done in that line as it seems impossible to do one at that size and price point at the Alternators expected details.

All in all, I'm really sad to see the line end and do hope that it comes back out at the end of the movie line. Or we at least get some Alternator styled movie toys... shame to get the licensing for those cars and not have them made into Alternators...
