I have both backing cards stored *somewhere*, if I can find them anytime soon I'll scan them. Don't know if they're Mexican, I remember all the text being English. I've got Scrapper here and he has '(c) HASBRO 1980, 1986' stamped on his back, Decepticon rubsign on his right leg (appears upside-down in 'bot mode).

If it came packaged with a rubsign, then it's not Mexican.

Anyone else pick up *original* *Hasbro* G1 Constructicons around this time in the U.K.?

Either from Woolworths, or other sources?

Around the same time they had a boatload of G1 Bumblebee, Hubcap and Beachcomber - I always presumed they turned up at the back of a warehouse somewhere, forgotten after so many years.

Not that I'm aware of. Only "Classic" Combiners were Aerialbots and Stunticons (1990) and Combaticons and Protectobots (1991).

Also, Overlord and Motorvators were 1991. They also came in "Classic"-esque packaging.

Mexican toys had no rubsigns. And all-English text? WTF?

Looking for a complete Energon Sky Shadow (from Superion Maximus).
Offering: Binaltech Hound, Swindle, Ravage (Corvette), Skids.

Well, we definately got the Constructicons in or around 1991-2. That's how I got my Devastator. I've dug up the cards, and it seems what we got was either old stock from the original US release or a new run without changing anything. The markings on the card all mention Hasbro-Bradley 1984, there is a new sticker over the robot points marking, but nothing more than an EU distributor address. All five backer cards I found were the same. English only, G1 styled not gold cards, and from a sticker on one of them, sold at Woolworths, £6.49 each.

I also checked my Seacon backer cards while I was at it, the name on the back of Seawing and Tentakill's cards was Overbite, not Jawbreaker. Since I never actually got Overbite in a store, I can't check the name on his actual card, but the cross sells all suggest he was called Overbite in the toyline. Wonder why the annual calls him Jawbreaker?

As the Constructicons have been mentioned: Both Australia and New Zealand reportedly got Ramjet, Starscream, Cyclonus, Scourge, Soundwave/Buzzsaw and Blaster in their original US packaging around the same time as "Classics" were available there (ca. 1991). Did any of those pop up in the UK as well?

I don't remember seeing any of those here at the same time as Classics, no. However, I do remember seeing Constructicons around that time.

I'm pretty sure I remember Omega Supreme in an Argos catalog...

I've got all my TF paperwork as well. The earliest catalog I've got has all the toys on one side, and a nicely drawn Megs versus Prime on the reverse.
Time for a change...
