This spins out of another thread, but basically, who's more well known to your average fan: Alpha Trion or the Horrorcons (Apeface, Snapdragon)?

Alpha Trion seems more well known. While I can hear of the Horrorcons and somewhat recall them, I get a mental image when hearing of Trion. Alpha Trion appeared in the G1 cartoon to children everywhere and has since appeared in other television shows and even comics.

You have to call them Snapdragon and Apeface. Whenever I hear "Horrorcons" I either have to remind myself you didn't just mislabel the Terrorcons or I think of guys like Doublecross and Fangry.

Surely, such beloved characters don't need any additional introduction?

For me? Horrorcons. Simple fact that my friend had them as a kid and I got to play with them. I watched the cartoon, but I never did religiously due to school schedules and other things that ended up occupying my time after school.

I didn't know who Alpha Trion was until I saw some 3rd party figures for him. I thought he was just some junk IDW character until I looked into it. But for me it is certainly the Horrorcons, because of my attachments to the toys rather than any form of media.

But I don't see the point. Why should we ignore characters just because they're obscure? Hasbro has done pretty obscure guys before. Until Weirdwolf's release in TR, he's only appeared mostly in Japanese media and one appearance or so in IDW from what I could find. That sounds pretty obscure to me. Doublecross hasn't appeared in comics since 2014.

When did we stop thinking of things as cool toys and only worried about who appeared in media? Wouldn't Apeface and Snapdragon be pretty damn cool toys? Wouldn't it be cool to have the whole gang? Hasbro has released the whole '87 Headmaster gang for the Autobots, so wouldn't it be awesome to have the same for the 'Cons? That's why it irks me that we haven't heard anything about these two guys. I suppose that's what 3rd Party is for anyways though. I'll just go to them if Hasbro doesn't do these guys.

Alpha Trion. He was a featured Sunbow character with several appearances. He also was name dropped in Prime and featured in IDW.

I don't even remember the Horrorcons in the cartoon, they had limited time in the Marvel comics and were released in toy form at the point that the franchise was beginning to slip in terms of sales and retail space.

Pretty sure AT is more well-known by a mile. Horrorcons are more capsulized within the circle of dedicated G1 fans.

I agree. However, I still have to struggle a bit to remember Snapdragon and Apeface past the initial "hey, I remember those names!" Eventually I can recall the toys. Alpha Trion springs to my memory immediately as an entire character.

    Alpha Trion, no contest.

While I like the Horrorcons, you can't deny the fact they are nobodies in the Transformers mythos.

Alpha Trion was in four episodes of the original cartoon and one was a two parter that introduced the firts scramble city combiners. That is bound to leave more of a mark than what ever happened to Apeface and Snapdragon in Rebirth, the death of the G1 cartoon.

    Alpha Trion.

Snapdragon and Apeface are known too... But not so much as "Horrorcons" as they're known under their separate names.

The Horrorcons were heavily featured in "The Headmasters" anime, though. So Japanese fans are probably more invested in the characters than we (North Americans and Europeans) are.

Definitely Alpha Trion. Last time I talked about the horrorcons with anyone, I got Apeface confused with Beastbox and neither of us could remember Snapdragon's name without using tfwiki

    :lol  seriously, ok i'll play.
Apeface and Snapdragon immediatly come to mind as fully rounded characters from the Rebirth.
Alpha Trion is a complete nobody, i honestly can't tell him apart from Orion Pax sometimes.

Pretty much this: there's a lot of snobbism about characters who didn't feature in the first two seasons of the cartoon, and as a result of the movie backlash where relegated to 'obscurity' once G1 came back in vogue.
Fuck fiction exposure, i like Alpha Trion, but he was never a headmaster.
Apeface and Snapdragon need to get voyager toys in this line.

Ah, welcome, I made this thread more or less for you. :lol

I agree with your last sentence. I think you must concede for the larger point, however, that you are in the minority this time. :D

To fans of the G1 cartoon? Alpha Trion. To fans of the comics or toys? Horrorcons.

Who do I care more about? Horrircons. Who would I rather see toys of? Horrorcons. No contest.

Alpha Trion, he's got a toy now out and he's been a recurring character in the IDW comics.

The Horrorcons are far more obscure.

A3. In past I thought the Horrorcons were another combiner team like the Terrorcons until looking them up.
