The "primary" universal stream for the Marvel continuity family is Primax 984.0 Gamma. In terms a sane person can understand, that means the American G1 series followed by the American Generation 2. In other words, the UK, Classics, and R1 stories aren't included. I found that extremely odd in the latter case: When the universal stream system was being expounded upon, Regeneration One was either still being published or had just concluded. It seems weird that they would designate the main Marvel G1 continuity as the one that ended twenty years ago with an unresolved plot rather than promote the newer line of comics that were still for sale. Any idea what the thinking was behind this decision by... whoever "Vector Prime" actually is?
Because it's the version that came first. Designation does not follow "what's currently running" but "which one came first".
Because Gen2, Classics and RG1 all spilt off from the same basis. The reason why it's the main one is because it has three separate series following on from it, each one unrelated to the others.
Probably because it's the one all the other related Primax blahblah Gamma continuities are based on. It's the foundational storyline and the others are spinoffs of it.
As a fan, you don't have to like the officially designated primary continuity. Its up to each of us to decide what we enjoy most. I prefer the Marvel UK continuity, alternate futures and all. Thats the main Marvel continuity to me.
Vector Prime also said that the "Alignment" is the true ending for the Marvel universe, a story that is not official (essentially a fanfiction written by Simon Furman).
