The reference is from The Ultimate Doom, Part III. Where the numbers come from, I don't know. I do know that some fans (including Cobalt Agent here) have done several calculations on Energy and physics and came up with the Joules required to do such an action (which was in line with the energy release of a Type 1a Supernova) It may be an extrapolation from that.

There are so many unknowns, it's impossible to know for sure. You'd need to know Cybertron's mass, speed and distance travelled, Megatron's distance from the explosion and so forth.

Theoretically you could work out Cybertron's mass by making assumptions as to its size (the comics suggest it's roughly on a par with Saturn), and also its density (I dunno, the same as iron, maybe?).

But then that would give Cybertron such massive gravity that humans wouldn't be able to survive there without going splat - and in the cartoon, humans can live on Cybertron quite comfortably. Besides which, a supernova-type explosion in the Earth's environs would doubtless have a devastating effect on us, too.

Basically, 'The Ultimate Doom' defies all kinds of logic, so applying real-world physics to an absurd situation - whilst fun - is ultimately pointless.

Let's not forget that, in the movie, Megatron was severely wounded after falling a few stories from the top of Autobot city. If his body can withstand a supernova, there's no way he'd feel Optimus Prime's punch.

Why do people want to apply real-world physics to transformers? Oh well, do what makes you happy. I guess.

Its more of a "things to do when your bored" then anything I think. Plus you never know, maybe questioning silly things might accidently lead to useful information.

How many things do we have today that are the result of some bored dude screwing around? A lot I'm sure.

I'd wager that fans of science fiction are probably more likely to be interested in real-world science. I mean, there are a number of technical manuals that delve into Star Trek physics, and you can also buy the book 'The Science of Doctor Who' if you were so inclined.

So as a popular sci-fi franchise, I'd be more surprised if there wasn't a subset of Transformers fans who were interested in this sort of thing.

wanna know a dumber one? Megantron's claw in rotf can only do 500 psi of pressure, there are animals who can exert more force, NO where near the amount needed to crush a human skull. and that is for his murder claw arm, Writers SCIENCE

I think Animated Megatron survived two Transwarp explosions from ground zero. A Transwarp explosion was capable of destroying an Earth moon sized weapon in Beast Wars. Hope that helps.

You're new here, but for your future reference there are about three different ways you could've found it on your own; There's a search function on the boards so you could've searched for it, I gave you the username of the person who started the thread with the calculations (Cobalt Agent), you could've searched for him and seen all his threads. You could also Google it.

Anyway, what I was talking about is Here.
