Hey guys, I just wanted to correct a myth that I read on imdb (I don't have an account over there so I couldn't edit it). Anyway... So I guess there's this myth that no VHS copy had swearing in it. I can 100% tell you that's not true. I never saw Transformers in the theater. We rented the movie from our local video store (I think back when they let you rent the giant suitcase VCR, anyone remember those?). The VHS copy we watched definitely had the "oh shit" line because my parents were more than slightly annoyed and my brother thought it was the funniest thing ever. It's still a pretty vivid memory. I don't know if rental stores got a different version than what ended up on store shelves later. But some VHS copies did have that line.

Correct about there being a VHS version with Spike and Magnus swearing, namely Malofilm's Canadian release of the film in the early 90's.

Now, a question for everyone else, because I'm too lazy to get out my copy just to check: did Kid Rhino's cut of the film (from 1998-1999?) include the swears?

I have the anniversary version. It came with an awesome lenticular picture that I framed. It has both full screen and letterbox versions of the movie, plus tons of extras. Plus it's easy to get.

For whatever it's worth, the full screen version (on the 20th anniversary edition) doesn't make Hot Rod looks quite as pink. I definitely do see it a lot more though in the wide screen version.

This version has swearing. I still think this one is the superior cut since it makes no enhancements to the original print and is probably the purest transfer.

Right, so that's the one I'll get when I'm looking for it on DVD. The VHS cut I have is from the year before that, and the cover art is just the poster without the "Special Collector's Edition" jazz on the top.
