Hey guys. I decided to make this thread in honor of a performer that passed away earlier this year: Bill Martin (Broadside in Transformers). Boy, I really can't believe that he only played Broadside in the old Transformers cartoon, 'cause he had a whole lotta range. Here's some roles that I think he would have pulled off quite nicely: Jazz (using his Rock Man voice from The Point) Soundwave (using his Umbra voice from Mighty Orbots) Waverider (using a higher take of his Broadside voice) Longtooth (using his Korgan Bloodaxe voice from Baldur's Gate II) Bludgeon (using his Shredder voice from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) Blue Bacchus (using his Samhaine voice from Real Ghostbusters) Obsidian (using his Claw voice from the Chuck Norris cartoon) Bulkhead (using his Tor voice from Mighty Orbots)
Yeah he's one VA I wish they used his talents more with. He'd legit make a great Bulkhead had he existed in G1.
Most likely, as often as Broadside was even used in G1, he was pulled in off another Sunbow show to fill in for someone who was scheduled to do the voice. It's also why some minor characters that only have a few lines across several episodes are occasionally voiced by different VA's, depending on who was on hand to record them.
Yeah, he definitely had an impressive vocal range, and yes, he would have been a boss Bulkhead. That's quite possible, actually.
The Transformers had a dream cast. Pretty much any great voice actor of our generation was in Transformers but not all of them were able to get the spot light and shine with their outstanding talents because there just wasn't enough time in the episodes over 3 seasons. On that note, I am currently looking for someone who can do a good impression of Bill Martin's Broadside for a role in the Transformers Headmasters fan dub.
