Do you think japan will release them on dvd or bluray? Do you think Shout Factory will release them? What better time than now, right?

All I want are for the two shows to finally be subbed. Despite the overly-comedic nature and poor animation outside of the stock footage, they kinda look fun.

As much as I would like to see Shout Factory to release them in the US eventually, I seriously doubt it.

They might get a rerelease in Japan, don't see much hope stateside, given how other Japanese-only series have sold on dvd up until now.

Yeah, we basically just got lucky with Headmasters, Masterforce, and Victory. Or if you want a non-Transformers example, Zyuranger and Dairanger.

They gave them a shot on the market, even though they took a conservative approach. I can't say I'm surprised such a niche product didn't exactly sell like hotcakes, especially given how the market for physical media has kind of taken a downturn to begin with.

I thought I heard this was a good show.
You make it sound much less.

And I thought they were almost universally reviled. Except for some good toys, of course.

Can't see it happening but in the UK we haven't even had a DVD release of the Beast wars show yet so it would be a great time to right that wrong

My group is doing an English sub of Beast Wars II, and we should have a release out in coming weeks.

If it's the same quality as your amazing RID2001 sub, then this is all I'll ever need for BWII, haha. I loved finally watching RID2001 in Japanese with all the missing content, very excited to see your next release.

Beast Wars Neo after, perhaps? :D

    Thanks Scar04c!

Well we can promise Beast Wars II for now :)  We'll see what we can do about Neo after, but I think I speak for the group that we need to take a bit of a breather after BWII is complete. It's been a fun ride and a lot of research involved too to make this release happen!

We've also got a boatload of extras being included too. Some stuff that will surprise a lot of fans. Of course, I'll save that for the official announcement in the coming weeks :)

Oh, I'm sure you do - I understand that making these is a monumental effort for your group, but I really do appreciate it. Besides, I remember when I asked about Japanese Beast Wars subs back when I first discovered the RID sub, and you were similarly coy about it, so I'm alright with waiting until your group is ready again ;)

Excited to see what you have planned this time around!

Yeah, as a group, we don't like to make promises that we can't keep. Also real life gets in the way sometimes, so we can't always meet our personal targets for a release date :)  But given we're working on the last few episodes now, I can safely say this will be released in the coming weeks. It'll also be good to finally close the chapter on this series after so long.

    That'd be nice.

Characters, meh. Story wise, not so much excessive adlibbing or hearing characters doing their vocal tics. BW II and BW Neo were more serious compared to the Iwanami dub of Beast Wars, in terms of plot.

BW II was cheesy and came close to being Iwanami-dub stupid. BW Neo improved on story-telling when it came to dealing with Unicron.

I don't think the odds are great on the North America side. It's too bad the Japanese G1 DVDs didn't sell better. I did my part by buying all three series, but there's only so much we can do individually.

Fun note on the Japanese dub of Beast Wars: I sat down and watched an episode of it with Scott McNeil the last time he was a guest at AnimeFest in Dallas. He seemed pretty amused to hear other people redub his characters for a change instead of the other way around ;)  He had comments for nearly every character, but I really only remember his reactions to two. He didn't like Rattrap, but gave him a pass because "I guess it would be hard to do a Brooklyn accent in Japanese." He absolutely loved Terrorsaur.

I've been watching karyuudo's sub of Car Robots on the Youtube channel on my Roku, and I have to say that it's nothing short of amazing that fans are able to see this in its original form. Great work, and I'm totally looking forward to BWII.
