He's an awesome character constructed by Nick Roche and James Roberts that has unfortunately fallen into the hands of much less capable writers and has suffered for it as a character.

Or he's a cyber-ninja from Animated who digs nature and occasionally has a dry wit.

Other than that he's never had much a personality. Like at all.

 

A manipulative prick who turns into a police car or a kickass ninja who turns into a motorbike.

 

A law-obssessed super-strict cop who has to keep his brothers in line and has little to no imagination.

 

A Machiavellian Autobot who believes in victory at any cost. He's the strategist who looks and thinks big picture and long term.

 

Who is Prowl to me? A Datusn Fairlday Z kickass security officer of the Autobots.

 

Used to think he was cool now I kinda think he's a prick.

Still a cool character but I kind of have a dislike towards him (esp in IDW)

Well to me, the Animated version of Prowl where he's a Cyber Ninja sticks out to me more. Though then again that was the first version of Prowl that I was exposed to since Transformers Animated introduced me to Transformers, so I'm mostly biased to that version because of Nostalgia.

 

I've come to see Prowl as a cross between Spock and Scott Summers (Cyclops) Logical to a fault/ a boy-scout driven to extremes to protect what he believes in.

I often thought years ago that I'd love to see Prime, Prowl and Ratchet interact like Kirk, Spock and McCoy in the Star Trek films.

I also think Jeff Bennetts voice fits most incarnations of Prowl.

 

One of my fave characters, right hand man to Optimus, brilliant tactician, a "by the book" guy and a solid warrior. Basically the G1 characterization from the original cartoon, tech specs and comics.

I like some of the idw portrayal, particularly the one where h is hiding in police cruiser mode then breaks cover to rescue a kid. That's prowl to me: someone who is out to do the right thing.

 

Jeff Bennett was really great as Prowl though I think David Kaye would also work well.

 

To me he's like the G1 Shockwave's tech specs - logical and a good military strategist but loyal to the Autobot cause and beliefs.

IDW turning him into a 'dark' character of sorts...isn't appealing to me. They should have used some other character.

 

Prime's second in command. He is an extremely clear thinking and rational person also. He relies on logic but he has a personality and a moral compass unlike Shockwave.

 

Prowl is a mix of J. Edgar Hoover and Batman to me.

 

I think my ideal Prowl would have to have a strong sense of justice that can twisted into something a bit more dark, whatever justifies the means, not as a full blown villain (Thanks Barber).

 

One that perfectly voiced by Alan Tudyk.
