Boulder's discovery of endangered woodpeckers on Griffin Rock causes the Bots to go to extremes to protect them--especially when the Mayor sees a chance for more tourist dollars.

Original air date: May 23, 2015

With the episode having turned up on Amazon and youtube (HasbroEpisodes), figured now is as good a time as any for this thread.

Episode begins with Boulder, Cade, Frankie, & Cody bird watching in Blossomvale. Cade is none too happy about having been brought along where as Boulder is fascinated by what he sees around him. Boulder sees a woodpecker that looks similar to the one in a bird book he's holding. He believes it to be a "Red Headed Cuckoo" which irritates Cade as Boulder looks at him when he says it. The kids go for a high shot by climbing a nearby tree to look when the branch cracks and snaps causing them to fall towards the woodpeckers. Intro.

Boulder reacts quickly deflecting the kids fall mid air from the birds using his foam cannon and dives to save Frankie & Cody before they hit the ground. The woodpeckers take a liking to Boulder for his heroic deed where as Cade is furious. The Burnses, Greenes, and the Bots talk about what they saw at the firehouse that evening. Doc Greene determines the reason the birds aren't pictured in Boulder's book is because the Golden Crested Woodpeckers were believed extinct over the last 40 years. Immediately believing this to be good news, Doc Greene chimes in that because they're still around they are an endangered species and that the authorities must be contacted. That, if the public became aware, they would surely trample the birds' habitat to see them.

Boulder, Chase, and Blades all later agree to act in defense of the birds where as Heatwave would rather perform his regular duties. Cody, Frankie & the Bots quickly grow bored with defending the birds' tree. Boulder suggests moving some flower bushes nearby for the birds to enjoy rather than the broken nearby logs. The plan goes off well until a swarm of bees arrive at which point Boulder relocates the flower bushes. With the birds somewhat shaken up, the group decides to calm them by playing music off of Cody's music player through Blades' sound system. The music plays too loudly and becomes stuck when Blades tries to stop it. Chase and Chief arrive to cease the unintended ruckus with Chief reminding them that while they mean well, their actions could have all kinds of unintended consequences. Blades sees the family of birds all out on a branch looking ready to fly. He tells them to do what he did the first time he flew which was to closes his eyes and scream.

In town, Mr. Harrison's helipack malfunctions and has a near miss with Mayor Luskey's vehicle which falls into a crevice from ongoing road work. Heatwave & Cade pull the vehicle free as Cade complains about everyone else baby sitting endangered birds. Mayor Luskey overhears Cade and makes him squeal about the recently discovered birds. Faking as though he would keep Cade's secret, the mayor then makes a call to Mr. Alper to get ready for tourists after Cade & Heatwave leave.

At a press conference Mayor Luskey & Mr. Alper are announcing the rediscovery of the thought to be extinct Golden Crested Woodpeckers. The Burns family is outraged and quickly discover Cade let it slip to which Dani slugs him with loaded shopping bags scattering the merchandise. Huxley Prescott & the Mayor talk about the origin of Mayor Luskey's info and he cites the Burns family as knowing, their phone immediately goes off in the firehouse. Talking to each other over the phone while watching the conference on TV, Cody tries to dodge Huxley's question by saying it was more like a friend of the family. Heatwave becomes irritated that the bird patrol has put the Bots' identities on the line too.

Boulder accepts this is his fault and agrees to talk to Huxley on the phone but by altering his voice. After sounding like a sweet little girl and a deep voiced older man, Huxley gets outraged and asks if this is some kind of joke! Boulder finally uses his own voice after Heatwave reminds him he's only been heard "as a robot" before. Huxley tries to get Boulder to tell him where they are to which Boulder adamantly replies that they're not ready for that yet and that they need to be left alone. He smashes the phone unit believing that'll be the end of it. However boats with tourists are already arriving to Griffin Rock much to Blades' and Danni's dismay. Recognizing the mayor from TV, the tourists swarm Luskey wanting to know where the birds are. Spotting Cade nearby, Mayor Luskey quickly redirects the gathering crowd to him for questioning.

Sidestepping Huxley's questions about which Burns family member (and the bots) discovered the birds, an angry Mayor Luskey steps forward and demands Cade tell them. The Burns family sees this transpiring at home on TV and begins to panic. Being as vague as he can, Cade describes them as birds who peck wood and live in a hole in a tree. The family tenses up as they realize Cade tells the crowd the tree is in...Blossomvale. The Burnses groan collectively as the tourists scamper off for Blossomvale. After going over the possible scenarios, Chief, Cody, & Frankie are dropped off in Blossomvale ahead of the tourists by Blades as Chase and Boulder hide nearby. Doc Greene checks on the birds as they eat worms getting hungry for spaghetti himself. Chief attempts to barricade the tourists from the birds with roadblocks citing the closure of Blossomvale. Blades & Danni clear the airspace of Mr. Harrison and a hang gliding tourist. Huxley tries to sneak in disguised as a bush only to be repelled by a skunk.

Mayor Luskey & Mr. Alper produce a court order forcing the opening of Blossomvale to which Chief reluctantly accepts. The tourists almost immediately cause havoc as campfires cause chain reaction fires around the area. Chase orderly evacuates the humans as Blades collects water to douse the flames until Heatwave arrives. Boulder bushes dirt off of a nearby hillside to smother some of the fires. Blades douses the mayor along with the flames citing it was mostly an accident. Heatwave and Cade arrive to help the team extinguish the remaining fires. Racked with guilt over the unintended consequences of the birds' apparent demise in the fire, Boulder takes the developments hard.

At the firehouse that night, Doc Greene informs the bots that they shouldn't be so glum over the situation as he had the birds' legs tagged with tracers. Greene revealed that they had flown to a nearby valley during the fire. Relieved, Boulder still reminds everyone for all the good intent they were nearly as bad as the bird watchers who caused much of the trouble. Consulting with the Mayor, Doc Greene and the town reopens Blossomvale as a limited bird sanctuary with a functioning web cam to watch the Golden Crested Woodpeckers rebuild their species. The Woodpeckers all fly towards Boulder apparently thanking him in their own way once again.

Watched this yesterday but wasn't in a place to type a synopsis on my phone well.

It was a really fun ep, I was laughing way more than should've been allowed! The joke about the Red-headed Cucuoo was awesome!

    Also..."My Sister, the Mob Boss".

Okay episode, I'm actually getting 'burned' out with the people living on and visiting the island, they are so stupid, they should all be deported along with the idiot mayor.

Let the Rescue Bots take over Griffin Island, leave the Burns family and Greene family, the other humans don't deserve to live there. :lol

This was truly a heartwarming episode. Boulder's love of nature really shines, but it also proves to have a downside. Humans are such greedy bastards... they need to leave the animals and birds alone.
