I was just wandering as almost every series has had some version of this theme song... exactly how many different versions have been recorded? And what is your favorite version of the theme song?

This does not include other Transformers theme songs such as the Beast Wars intro. Only the different variations of the original song.

I've tried to include as many as I could in the poll but I may have forgotten a few and 13 is the max limit so I don't even think I can include all of them.

 

Neither the movies, Prime, or Rescue Bots have any variation of that tune, or use those lyrics.

I love the G1S2 version.

But I can't remember the Bayformer films featuring the song.

 

I can't help but like the 2007 Movie version.

 

I like the Animated version the most, since it added a new verse to the song that fits very well.

Prime and Rescue Bots I misread on the wiki... I thought that seemed wrong when I put them up there but I was too tired to actually listen to all the theme songs last night. Movies, I'll get back to in a minute.

The films themselves did not feature the song at all except maybe during the end credits. I probably should of specified the movie soundtrack not the actual movie.

Another reason you may not remember the movie songs is because they changed so much from the original that they're almost unrecognizable however they do still count as variations of More than Meets the Eye as they are listed as a remix under that name on the Soundtrack CDs.

Also... I have no idea how to edit the poll to remove Prime and Rescue Bots... Those really shouldn't be there. I do think there was an instrumental version (no lyrics) of the theme song as well which I would of like to add in their place.

 

Same here. G1 season two version of the theme song is the best out of all the selections in this poll. I'm surprised the 1986 movie is not one of the selections.

 

I did say I may have forgotten a few. I kind of assumed that the movie used the same variation from the season 3 opening but I wasn't entirely sure. It's been a while since I've actually listened to all of them.

 

86 Movie, then G1 Season 2, Then 3 then 1, then RID 2001

 

For me it's definitely Lion's theme from the original animated movie.

 

With thirty years of history there is certainly a lot to remember.

The band Lion did a hard rock extended version of the Tformers theme for the 86 movie. Aside from some similar lyrics it doesn't have a lot in common with the S3 theme as it's a heavy reworking of the classic song.

The 86 movie theme is the one I thought was used in Season 3. The actual Season 3 theme song I didn't remember at all.

The series theme music doesn't actually seem all that different with the exception of a few sound effects being changed to match the new animation. Also season 2 and 3 have much better sound quality than season 1.

Anyway... sense apparently a bunch of people have ever never heard or don't remember the movie theme songs. I come with links!

The video is a fan edit but the song is official music from Linkin Park. You can still hear some of the original lyrics in there though everything else was changed from the original 80's version.

And this is the version Cheap Trick did for Revenge of the Fallen... though I had a horrible time finding this one because it's not listed on YouTube as "More than Meets the Eye" but rather just "The Fallen remix" still you can clearly hear the familiar lyrics.

 

How could you possibly leave "Lion" off that list? The 1986 movie theme? All other themes pale when Lion or Stan Bush enters the fray. The ultimate distillation of 80's hair bands and montage music given form and voice. Like a chorus of cross dressing anorexic angels wearing really really bad wigs.

The 80's was a very strange time for music. It is probably best that we never speak of it again.

Ya ya, I know the Bay movies are there, too .  

But Matrix, the 1986 Lion themes is 1 of the greatest songs in this entire universe!

Also, Stan Bush sang a Transformers theme song that wasn't used in the 86 movie. Part of it was used in commercials for the toys/movie.
