Honestly, my Transformers collection would be the last thing I'd be worried about if I ever got divorced.

Depends on the reason for divorce. If it was because I'd had an affair, she has already stated that she would sell the lot on Ebay for a £1 each!

Sometimes I come to these threads for the enjoyment. Being serious though when it came to a divorce for me my mind would be on others things like my dogs. Bitch can take everything I got but not my dogs.

Don't tell me when you see a member of your preferred gender with a whole shelf of Masterpieces, maybe a Metroplex, or other toy that suits your particular fancy, you don't get ideas....

God forbid, but I imagine she'd let me keep em as I'd never take any of her beloved DC/Marvel/Buffy figures and statues.

I would imagine if we were to divorce and I mentioned them she would knock them all from their shelves, she has done this before, so to spare them this fete I say they will be her/our sons one day knowing I will never part with them/my precious.....my precious..
Her 3 diamond rings to the value of 28k with the gold bangles, earing's, necklaces and watches she can give back/throw at me and the 505cc's in each breast she can rip out as proof the marriage is over....seriously nothing except our kids would matter anymore and I would not take a thing from our/her house, maybe just the Megatron guns to use in robbery to get me back on my feet to buy more diamond rings for my queen.  goddess.

My wife thank god would never break my shit. We have respect for each other lol. Her wedding rings are more than twice the value of my collection and those double D's are real and they are spectacular. ;)

I know that divorce or a breakdown of a long term relationship CAN be nasty.

But having just come out of a breakup of a 12 year relationship, I can tell you that sometimes things can go ok. She had no interest in taking anything from me, nor I from her. We had a cat together, I still get "visitation rights". But that really is due to who we are as people. YMMV.

I don't think I have to worry about that, however it all depends on how nasty the divorce is. Some end in such turmoil simply because one wants to make the other suffer. It's a horrible thing.

I've been married for 5 and my wife actually enjoys buying me Transformers even though we don't have the room for my collection any longer. I really feel bad for the collector who goes through a divorce.

A man after my own heart. We operate under "don't ask, don't tell rules".

"How many little plastic robots do you have, and is this one new?"
"Five... And no of course not he's been on that shelf since 1997."
    /quickly feeds receipts to dog.

Looks the original poster just up n left!:D
I hope you aren't going through this subject, friend.

That's very sweet and true. As much as Transformers comprises a strong part of my thoughts, pastimes, and culture, it is still secondary after my wife and family.

But I can still answer the thread.

It depends on the divorce scenario. In order of bad to worse.

1- Amicable split. Both parties take their own possessions, and agree to sell off the rest and split the money. Transformers are safe. If these are worth tons of money, then be ready to give her the car to be fair.

2- prenup or lawyers. As Aernaroth wrote, the toys you collected before marriage may be safe, depending on the laws and or prenup agreement. The rest bought during marriage would fall into the split everything clause.

3- somebody cheated on their spouse. Worldly possessions are the least of their worries. The victim can take the creep to the cleaners, and justifiably so.

It is hard often to tell my wife that I will be spending our money on Transformers and I do feel guilty, arguments occur but I try not to get worked up by her disapproval and ask her to let me make the decision I wish to and do so fairly and compromising.
Today I purchase FERAL REX tomorrow the stacked orders come in.

    depends on the situation...

shitty break up = bitter = looking for vindictive actions

amicable break up = both wanna dip out = probably safe with keeping your crap

I'd probably have to sell a bunch of it to afford the fallout of the divorce, I imagine.
