Marvel Galvatron for me. Also always visually preferred the silver version over the purple animated version. Comics had some of the greatest stories featuring the character. Target: 2006, Time Wars, his encounters with Ultra Magnus, fighting against and then teaming up with Megatron. Plus his time-hopping adventures gave us Death's Head, so I can only ever be eternally grateful for the comic version of Galvatron.
I only kinda went off Galvatron a bit when the alternate universe version from 'Rhythms of Darkness' came along since it was essentially a different guy.

I really like Galvatron II. Marvel UK's Galvatrons were also cool, and had some great moments.

Sunbow Galvatron is a shite replacement for Megatron, and IDW Galvatron is a total nonentity (I guess he's a Conan riff now).

So, I like the time traveling despot approach more than any of the other directions they've taken the character.

Love him, but I'm probably at least a little bit blinded by nostalgia. I absolutely loved the Galvatron toy as a child. I'm just about 100% certain that I got him for Christmas in 1986.

Loved the comics version of him but it was a pity that the cartoon turned him into a loon and I wished his voice wasn't so 'high pitched'.

Hey, he's already got that exploding arm problem.

He was great though, crazy and unpredictable.

The UK Marvel comic version is the Galvatron I know. The Fallen Angel story and Geoff Senior issue where Galvatron obliterates Centurion and then in the following issue takes on all 5 Dinobots, Blaster, Perceptor, Warpath, Powerglide, Beachcomber and Cosmos. Love the Guy!

    Oh, and this cover!

I've always preferred Megatron, but the idea of a batshit crazy super powerful bad guy is awesome.

The Megatron I know is from the Marvel comics run and as somebody else said, he was sidelined mostly by Shockwave. Galvatron was never sidelined in the UK Marvel comic and his story lines did introduce us to Deaths Head.

    So I love Galvatron.

Love him. I really loved him in TF86 movie, he still was basically Megs in a different body. The tv version was insane and his personality seemed to diverge a bit. He was not a genius anymore, he led through raw power. the comic version was a well thought out character. I loved it when he confronted and then teamed up with Megs his former self.

Just the sight of Marvel UK Galvatron was enough to have me shaking in gleeful anticipation of outright carnage every time I picked up the comic as a kid.

Galvatron's characterisation and the epic stories from TF:UK probably are responisble for the life-long love of comics I have to this day.

His battles with Ultra magnus were just the stuff of legend to a TF-daft kid

The only version of Galvatron I liked was in the 86 movie. He was lethal, uncompromising, and Leonard Nimoy gave the character a powerful nobility. Wish that could've carried over to the show. S3 Galvatron, on the other hand, was an annoying lunatic - hard to believe the great Frank Welker did his voice - that seemed more of a danger to his troops than the Autobots. Never got into the original comics, so I can't comment on that version.

I like him. Megatron is an awesome leader, but it's nice that we got a "futuristic" leader as well, to match up against the newer Autobot leaders like Rodimus, Magnus, etc.

The UK comic utilized Galvatron very well, he was ridiculously powerful. The comic portrayals were very interesting, as the leaders were usually the most powerful bots, able even to take down the combiners single handedly. That was very different from the cartoon portrayals. Megatron took down Predaking and all 5 dinobots by himself. Galvatron took down Piranhacon and squadrons of Autobots all by himself. The US comic barely utilized him, but I love the alternate reality issue (#67?) where Galvatron takes over the Earth.

The US G1 cartoon was a bit odd in how Galvatron was handled, he was basically insane and just led the Decepticons because he was so powerful. And yet, he sometimes displayed a sense of honor, like when he backed down from continuing the battle after Optimus had banished the red dust in "The Return of Optimus Prime." I think it's fair to say that Galvatron's characterization in the US G1 cartoon was very inconsistent. So it was hard for me to really like his character since I couldn't really figure out what his character was.

I am looking forward to getting an MP Galvatron, someday.
