While technically the G2 cartoon is G1 with added CG, I found this very amusing.

Just remember that G2 never got remastered like G1 did, so there wil be a color difference between the two.

Wow, I thought G2 was a completely different cartoon. Did G2 also have those full CGI'd commercial break "we'll be right back" things or was that a different cartoon?

I wish G2 had been a new original cartoon.

It probably would have been shit but I still would have preferred that over to repackaging G1 as something new off.

The ironic thing is G2 wasn't a new generation of characters.

Only much later in the line was anyone "new" introduced. There were a bunch of "new" faces to the american market though, aside from the first (and second?) waves.

It's hard to believe people were actually paid to make that G2 mess. How is it even watchable? I say it's criminal to basicly destroy the orginal episodes in such a manner. Bet that they were saying to them selves well it will be alot cheaper to just add more effects than to make a whole new show....*patting each other on the back*....

Yeah, I never really realized how obnoxious it was until seeing them side by side.

g2 messed with my ADD. thanks to that cube.

    however, i did always wish that they put more budget into this;

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5taipMlVps

and made an entire series like that. even just as shorts. it would of been awesome to see in 1993.

Neat to see the side by side. Not that I needed evidence that G2 was bad.

It's amazing how G2 took a show as lazily made as G1, and somehow make it worse. Who thought adding CGI transitions every five seconds was a good idea?

    FOX?

    :p

    :lol

Well, back then it was a blessing, because as 5-8 year old kid, I didn't have the foresight to record the eps on VHS, which would have been easy as it was on 5 times a week.

When it went off the air, I was sad, as I still had the toys and wanted to keep the memories of the eps fresh. So when the commercials started popping up about the series being "enhanced", and on TV again, I jumped at the chance. So being 13 with a little more wisdom, I got quite a few eps, plus the stores having the toys helped...even if the colors were so colorful and "loud". The comics also helped a lot in retaining me as a fan till Beast Wars/Beasties came along.

That is so funny. I didn't even know there was a G2 cartoon. Such a lazy mess.

I was disappointed when I turned on the TV for G2. I was so pumped to see the new Generation 2 cartoon. Megatron was going to look awesome animated onscreen in his new tank mode. And then I turn it on... and it's G1 with a space cube. I felt lied to.

We got our first VCR one week before G1 Season 2 started. You bet I recorded the shit out of Transformers. Just to illustrate how long ago that was.... the remote control had a cord. :D

Yeah, we had a VCR like that once where the tape popped out through the top of the unit rather than the common make where you slide/push the tapes in. Recording was always tricky business. Most of the time, it seemed to work, then there were select occasions it didn't (like when I tried to record "Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster" off of TBS).

I think I kept our remote as a souvenir. That big chunk of machine lasted 16 years before it started eating tapes.

BTW, that was smart. My parents recorded all sorts of movies at the time, and I didn't think to ask if I can record my shows. But of course we weren't rich, and blank VHS tapes back then were expensive. But when I was recording G2 eps, they were cheaper....like 5 for $20 (IIRC), I also remember roughly in 1998-2001, I bought a pack of 3 for $5 from Bi-Way...that was a discount chain of ours.

It was people like you that helped the early internet with clips, episodes, and even commercials. I forgot the name of the site, but back during the Beast Machines era, it had all sorts of commercials, and intros.

Wow, that's the first I've seen the remastered G1.

SUPER hankering to go watch them all again.
