I never forgot anything and used to stare at the toy pack in catalogs all the time. (Even for other toy lines.)

Mine was almost a reverse of that problem. I remember a figure that didn't exist and could swear for years that there was a silver version of the Ratchet/Ironhide mold. (I may have seen a KO figure or an image of the silver Diaclone version of Skids.)

It was incredibly frustrating that Swoop featured in so many UK-only stories and yet his toy didn't make it to the UK. Plus all the Blaster adventures and no UK toy to be found.

I've gotten used to it over the years that often a great big chunk of featured comic, cartoon or movie characters with figures don't ever get UK release, but as a kid reading that comic (and seeing that cartoon) it was very sad and confusing not to be able to own the stars of some stories. Swoop getting all that screentime in 'Desertion of the Dinobots' for example. And I could never own a complete team of Dinobots. That just seemed very wrong to young me.

Unless their parents bought them figures all loose at garage sales, and didn't include those old G1 toy poster/catalog....or if you lived in a really small town, and didn't have anyone to talk to about Transformers.

    :lol

Otherwise there was no real excuse in not knowing what was being released that year...for those living in a country that had those giant store catalogs (Sears, Consumers Distributing, etc) would also have had the opportunity to see all that was available as well.

My school yard chums back in the day, we all stared at the catalogs (when you have enough figures that came from a box, you have spares), and discussed stuff like how a certain toy could have been better because...(insert problem and/or which guy from which class had it)...

This happens with quite a lot of characters. Mainly in large casts as they don't get much screen time so it's easy to forget they ever existed.

Time is a factor as well. It can much easier to forget a minor character from over 30 years ago than it is to forget a minor character from say the Unicron Trilogy.

There have also been times when a newer version of a character has been much more developed and there for more memorable than their original incarnation. As examples the first Smokescreen who I can remember is the character from Armada. I think everyone remembers UT Hot Shot but how many people remember that Hot Shot was actually in RID2001. Animated Blitzwing is one of my favorite characters and I had totally forgotten that there was a Blitzwing in G1. Shockwave's Autobot alias, Longarm. I had totally forgotten that name had been used multiple times before Animated. Of course I remember the original Shockwave just don't remember any previous incarnation of Longarm. There's also Strongarm who I'm pretty sure has been reused before RID2015 but now she's the only character I can remember with that name. Everyone remembers Wheeljack but how many people actually remember his likeness being used under a different name in Energon. When Dreadwing was first introduced in Prime I totally forgot that I own his original G2 toy. I have no idea where it is but I'm sure I still have it somewhere. The Twins from the movie are actually the first incarnations of Skids and Mudflap I can remember but actually both those names have been used before.

Most of the characters I've forgotten existed are from the G1 Cartoon. Every time toys are made of them and I hear other people talking about them I want to think they're Toy only characters, from the comics, or from a Japanese only series... some times they are other times I find out they were actually in the U.S. cartoon and I just don't remember them.

It's easy to forget characters or get mixed up with who was who in Transformers.
The cast is so big and there are so many continuities.

I'll never forget Gears though. The first comic I ever read was Marvel Transformers #3 with Gears and Spider-man.

I don't forget mostly anything either. I just did not pay attention to some of the bots in first place. My memories reach back till the age of 3.

This, although I can apply that to Micromasters and Actionmasters too. Most late G1 characters that were obscure I often forget about. But anything from 1984-87 I remember VERY well.

Have I mentioned that I also find the Headmasters to be easily forgettable. I don't mean just the Headmasters themselves but any character from that series who also made an appearance in the short lived Transformers season 4. The Headmasters themselves are really just a name to me as I can never remember any of the characters. So my list of forgotten Headmasters characters includes:

    Chromedome and Stylor

    Brainstorm and Arcana

    Hardhead and Duros

    Highbrow and Gort

    Pointblank and Peacemaker

    Crosshairs and Pinpointer

    Sureshot and Spoilsport

    Cloudraker

    Fastlane

    Mindwipe and Vorath

    Skullcruncher and Grax

    Weirdwolf and Monzo

    Apeface

    Snapdragon

    Slugslinger and Caliburst

    Misfire and Aimless

    Triggerhappy and Blowpipe

    Pounce

    Wingspan

    Sixshot

I'm really disapointed I can't actually remember any of these guys because I really like some of their designs, mainly Sixshot but being that they all only appear during the Rebirth they didn't get much if any screen time.

Also the Target masters who weren't partnered with brand new characters...

    Haywire (Blurr)

    Firebolt (Hot Rod)

    Recoil (Kup)

    Nightstick (Cyclonus)

    Fracas (Scourge)

I remember these characters had Targetmasters but can never remember who they were. I had to look all these up as there's no way I would of been able to list them otherwise.

The giant heavy hitters, I do remember though for some reason I keep forgetting that Scorponok has a headmaster named Zarak. It's kind of hard to forget those giants. And of course I remember Arcee and Danial were Headmaster partners but that's only because they were the main focus of the Rebirth... which is odd considering they were the only ones who didn't have toys.

I don't care about the numbers. I only care about the feels. If I feel like posting somewhere I will.

It is nice to have a computer on legs spouting random pointless stats at me though.

So what "feels" did you care about in this case? Rubbing it in the original poster's face that you feel smarter than them?

Which, coincidentally enough, is something I've been accused of a lot.

And still, I'm not doing it more than half a year after the fact.

With the bickering over a 9 month old thread and spam answers, this thread is done.
The same goes here as the NEWS forum, IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING WORTHWHILE TO ADD TO THE DISCUSSION...LEAVE IT ALONE.

    LOCKED!

    Q. What is a "Zombie Thread"?
A "Zombie thread" is any thread that has not had posts in some time, usually a year old or older, that has post that brings it back to the top of the forum. We usually frown upon the practice of bringing back old threads unless there is new information to be added.
