I was watching Hoist Goes Hollywood in the G1 Season 2 cartoons and was reminded how much I don't like Hoist. That has to be the ugliest transformer ever created other than most of the junkie looking bayformers. I mean the legs alone just look terrible. Am I alone in thinking this is a hideous looking transformer? Who do you think is the ugliest?
Sure, he's ugly, but he's not bayverse Skids or Mudflap. Dem sparklings were concieved while mommy was doing Synthen.
Ugliest would have to be Nightscream. Not just in appearance but in personality too. Hoist isn't that bad.
No, to be perfectly honest, a lot of G1 Transformers are pretty ugly. However, my opinions on the ugliest are the Animorphs crossover figures, and some of the Bayformers, namely this guy:

Demolishor is fashionably ugly, the whole point is he's some crazy-looking monster robot. Same with bots like Injector, Sky-Lynx, Obsidian, etc.. These tend to be my personal favorites. On the flip side, "I don't like it" ugly for me would have to be the Beast Machine Maximal designs. They... I don't even know. Like it touches upon some uncanny valley effect or something; too far from robot but not yet human. *looks him up* Egads!
Ratchet *is* a chubby old man! Sky-Lynx isn't ugly, he's majestic! Maybe because they meshed in the animal features in different ways- the BW ones tended to have human-ish proportions when in robot mode, and animal proportions when not. BM humanoid form often had unusual proportions.
I agree on Hoist looking pretty goofy. I've never been a fan of his. Sky Lynx to me is the most ungraceful thing in G1. Everything about him is just a "what the hell am I watching right now" moment. I always treat him like he's just a culmination of every bad energon acid flashback the Autobots have had coming to life (I blame Beachcomber for supplying it). And, I would say every single Bayverse robot is ugly as hell. Majority of them look like insects that got rolled up in scrap metal. Haha, I've never been an animated fan so I can't pick out designs off the top of my head (Designs are ugly to me so I never watched the show). This is actually my first time seeing Animated Ratchet. Damn, he looks like a fat cosplayer. Definately doesn't look like a bot.
