I personally think he should be a truck, I always like him being a truck. A truck and a trailer is a plus.

A fire engine may say 'heroic', but a truck is more definitive. Especially when we have such ideas as Optimus vs Motormaster.

 

Truck, Animated, G1, Prime, RB, Movie any one will do

Semi-truck that is either a cab over or similar to the one used in the live action films.

 

Fire Truck.

To me it's the most heroic kind of truck.

 

I like it when he's a truck who can combine with his trailer.

Frie truck and truck with super duper awesome weapon trailer and armor are acceptable.

A big red truck. Long nose, flat nose, fire truck, I can take any of them.

Although with the fire truck I'd probably be inclined to make the full truck his robot mode, instead of just a Super Mode - I'd save that for a trailer for the flat-/long-nose. Flight pack optional.

 

Has Prime ever been anything other than some kind of truck?

Other than a truck, he's been a car, a Nike shoe, a PlayStation, a Bearbrick, an FJ cruiser, a bat (if you treat very early Beast Wars media as G1 like Hasbro did), and a dinosaur.

I say truck, but that includes fire truck. Although, imo, I don't really consider him to have been a fire truck yet. Fire Convoy is a separate character to regular Convoy, and I don't agree with the American mistranslation of changing him into having been Optimus Prime.

But I agree that fire truck is a fitting alt mode for Optimus and would be happy to see it used in the future.

I'm kind of used to him being a truck in the main media franchises, but I wouldn't mind him although other altmodes.

That said, at that point, I'd rather the writers/Hasbro did away with Prime in a franchise and just have a new leader. Gives a chance to really break the archetype character molds Transformers has slowly solidified into.

 

Except for in Cybertron and TFA.

Also, it's not really a "mistranslation" as a deliberate change to maintain copyrights.

 

One of these days I'd like to see Optimus with an all-terrain tactical vehicle alt mode. Animated Ultra Magnus pulled it off really well, I'd love to see what Optimus would look like with that kind of vehicle form.
