The chest vents on Armada Starscream are very reminiscent of G1 Starscreams Pretender shell.
    Any one else see this?

Anyone else want to share odd similarities you noticed on character designs?

I've long thought that Energon Divebomb was a homage to Banzai-tron. They have similar faces. Their legs are similar with the knee spikes. Fictionally they've both been portrayed as martial artists.

I had a sketch somewhere of Divebomb in Banzai-tron's colours which I felt worked. A friend was in the process of repainting Divebomb that way.

Ever notice how Trantulas and Armada Sideways not only share the same Color Scheme but the same role?

    Think thats intentional?

Divebomb was more inspired by a general Gundam aesthetic.

The big yellow glowy circle on Megatron's chest in Dreamwave's War Within lines up perfectly to a schematic of Megatron from the Marvel comics that showed his inner components. As far as I know, there was no intent behind it. Just a chance coincidence.

Armada Sideways was never a mad scientist like Tarantulas. I get what you mean about the Unicron connection but Tarantulas's full deal with that was never really explored.

Good thing too. I always hated the idea that he was a spawn of Unicron. Far as I'm concerned, there's no connection.

Prime Soundwave's face has similarities to Cybertron Sideways/ Galaxy Force Noisemaze. I think that might be intentional but if it isn't then that's weird.

War For Cybertron Megatron's head looks a lot like the Decepticon logo. Probably intentional, but I like subtle details like that.

Also where Soundwave and Prowl seem to be the basis for the Decepticon and Autobot logos, Waspinator and Cheetor look like they were the basis for the Predacon and Maximal logos. And the Vehicon symbol seems to look like the Diagnostic Drone.

I see a slight similarities between the robot mode of Sky-byte and G1 comic thunderwing.

    I think that's intentional.

RID Optimus shares a few similarities with G1 Hotspot they both turn into Firetrucks, have a fake Window Chest and are designed to be combiners.

I've noticed that too. Back during the World Collide event in the Armada comic, when Thunderwing was a herald of Unicron, I originally thought that it was SkyByte. Looked so much alike (plus I had never heard of Thunderwing at the time).

Not sure if it counts because of how blatant it is, but the Vehicons from Prime are very clearly based on the Cylon Centurions from Battlestar Galactica. Both serve the same sort of purpose as the grunts of the opposing army, although they're a lot more threatening and dangerous!

I love BSG. Its awesome that Transformers made such a cool Transformer from the awesome Centurion design.

I actually thought the Vehicons looked kind of like one of the versions of COBRA's B.A.T.s.

Best picture I could find, but I hope you can see where I am coming from. Flat silver face with no features, single eye, black and purple color scheme, mindless drone army that constantly was blown apart, etc.
