B.R.T. Duo-con Report: TFCon 2012 and ConBravo!

And there it is, one convention report finally over and done. Next year, I hope Mrs. Bus and Stickman and I will see a whole bunch of you there, because it really was a very, very fun weekend. The schedule con-flict made it all the better, with two cons to choose from, so while the TFCon staff will probably grumble about it, I do hope ConBravo picks the same weekend again in 2013.

And maybe next year, I'll actually remember to buy some Transformers from the dealer room!

Next time, back to the crazy everyday apocalyptic chaos...

Edit:

Oh, and here's the dance off with Hulk and stormtrooper, filmed by Mechabouncer:

You are an evil man, you are. Pronouncing 'evil' with 3 syllables a la Alec Guinness.

I forgot to mention a lot of other things, too, like Sunstar's talk of horrifying things she has grown in her saltwater aquarium (with graphic illustrations, while MechaBouncer was eating, as I recall) and you, MB, and me endlessly talking shop, and roaming the dealer room talking TFs with all sorts of people, and congratulating the nice ladies who make the Starscream pillows for their brilliant contribution to Transformer madness. That opportunity alone would be worth the trip.

If I put the whole con on paper, though, it would have taken me hundreds of panels, and even 31 has delayed this long enough. I just wanted to capture some of the flavor of the weekend.

Still, seeing you in the Autobus costume woulda made the trip worth it.
Anime North sounds awesome, and of course it's bigger than TFCon and Con Bravo put together. Now that I've got some more people addicted, it becomes easier to travel for such things. Did someone say 'fiendish plot'?

Maybe next June I'll make it up to AN.

Damn you all having fun at TFCon! Running around with your cosplay and your shinkis and suchlike. Bah, young kids. In my day, conventions were a cup of tea and a scone, and IF you were lucky, maybe a vulcan neck pinch. Mutter mutter, get off your lawn, who's lawn, not my lawn, I don't have a lawn etc etc....
Except, of course, for that con where the hotel kitchen accidentally made the tea with polywater...

I should, but more efficiently.

What I wanted to do is communicate what it was like to go to the con, apart from the buying of stuff, which I didn't do all that much of. So many times, con reports are basically just lists of things bought, and can't do complete justice to the actual experience, for those who haven't been there.

There's no way I'm taking my brother... last time I tried to talk to him about going to a con -- we tried going to BotCon in Ohio back in 2008 -- he said yeah and then subsequently never bothered helping making hotel arrangements. And I would be too nervous to go into Canada alone, especially since I've never been to Canada.

So, sorry... unless there's a BotCon that gets held within the vicinity of the Great Lakes region -- and if I could afford to go -- then it's highly unlikely I'll ever attend a con.
Someday, maybe, never say never. Toronto actually is in the Great Lakes region, only the other side of it.

Let's just wait and see if things get any better in my crappy life before we worry about my going to a con, alright?
