C007: The New Recruits, Part I Sorry for the shorter episode. Didn't have much time today, sadly, and I have a rule- if a shoot takes longer than a day, scrap everything you've done, or split it up into multiple episodes. At least this is a bit of a springboard, anyways. Also: Yes, I did use Furno to jokingly mock all of those people who use BIONICLE or Hero Factory in their comics. Just a heads up- it really doesn't mesh all that well. If you're one of them and reading this right now, sorry, but I wanted to say that somehow, and this was the best way without coming off as directly offensive.
XFD Holy shit at the last panel! I'm dyin', Squirtle! No joke, I think I'ma bout to tear from laughin'!
I'm a Bionicle and Hero Factory collector, in addition to collecting TFs, and if I ever get around to making a comic at all, they will be used as characters at some point. Personally, I think it's cool to see comics where various toys are mixed in together as characters, I see no problem using TFs alongside Bionicle and Hero Factory, so I disagree with your opinion. But nonetheless... I respect your opinion. I mean, we're all different, we can't all like the same exact things.
Sorry, TC. I don't mean to cause personal offence- see, mixing Bionicle/Hero Factory and Transformers can work, but only in an environment that's not very serious. The more serious the series is with its environment, the less it works, and vica versa- Sharkticon's great series is an amazing example of this. Because everyone's a toy and aware of it (in most cases, really) there's not much of an issue there, and it can lead to some great action sequences like the one in the last episode as of the time of writing. But when you start trying to make things closer to the original fiction, you come across a dilemma. If you go for Transformers, the Bionicle figures' sentinence causes an issue- how are they "living" if they don't have sparks, and vica versa for the Transformers in a Bionicle universe, as they don't have heartlights or HERO cores. Of course, if you try to mix them together, everything becomes a hodgepodge and the contrasts are too great to allow my suspension of disbelief to kick in. I suppose what I mean is, I don't like it when a series tries to take itself seriously, then you discover that half of the Transformers were actually built from LEGO parts. It could be pulled off, I suppose, as a new faction, but when you try to have Decepticon Vahkii or Autobot Vakama, you're digging yourself into a hole. Shinki are sort of a subset of this problem, but the differences are less extreme so I don't mind them that much. Besides, most of the series with Shinki characterise them extremely well.
Ah, Unicron... Justifying your status as the Chaos Bringer, are we? And now, t Agreed. To be fair, Busou Shinki are supposed to be miniature combat androids in-universe, so they can get away with having life and sentience.
Well, it can work in other contexts that establish there's more then one mechanical civilization involved...
Sorry guys. I had planned to shoot a comic today but I've got exams coming up so I needed the time to prepare for them. The comics will continue! I just don't know when.
C008: Torsoless, Part I Thanks for being patient, guys! The annoying part is, no more comics for at least a week, but the upside is that if I do well in these exam I may be expanding the cast...
Thanks guys :] Was thinking either Valhalla or reincanation, to be honest, but glad that my choice made sense!
