IH2005: Here, let me chip in an image. It's the old "Seth Buzzard Convention Center" from the con thread a while back, with a different sign. Here's a version with a blank sign that can be customized for each award: Contest coordinators, feel free to copy, save, upload to your own hosting and modify at will.
This time it will be different for my characters (who were stuck in the parking lot the entire convention). Now that Ratchet is a semi-regular character...well, let's just say none of you will be keeping HoP out.
I guess I should let you all know I'm back on... Just in time to vote. ^_^ Still nowhere near caught up yet, though. & I return w/ new skills. ^_^ The first of those skills will be on display when Grimlock enters the Battle Nexus. The 2nd, I shall be creating a proper Sparks Brush for GIMP soon. Probably not until I get an update or 2 for my comic done (or need better sparks), though. I intend to do tutorials for both of these new skills, eventually. ^_~
Okay... it's January 20th. The day that voting begins for Best Photography and Best Running Gag... and the poll threads aren't up yet.
After a little thinking the other day, I got to the point where I wasn't sure if the dates listed were for this year or were the dates from last year..
The dates listed on the first post is the schedule for this year's Funnies Awards. Did Legotron123 forget he's supposed to put the poll threads up for his categories today or what?
TC: Maybe he's having trouble creating a poll. It's not immediately obvious that checking the "poll" box, entering the number of options, and hitting "Submit" will bring up the poll-choices menu. People may expect a window to pop up when they hit the checkbox, since some forums do work that way. (Hey,Legos, if you check the "poll" box, and enter an options number, and hit "Submit", after entering your post text, you'll bring up the poll-choices menu. You can also add a poll to an existing thread. Scroll to the top and pull down the Thread Tools menu, I think. I would make a new thread, though, because of the nonspecific title you used, which will make it hard to find the thread in the future.) On that topic, I think it would be good to title this year's voting threads "2012 Funnies Awards Best (foo) Voting Thread" or something similar, where (foo) is the contest, like people have done in previous years for the awards. That makes them easier to find using Search.
Hey guys, just wanted to say that I'm having family problems so the best running gag voting thread won't be up until tomorrow. Buy the way, no-one nominated any one for best photography, so no thread for that.
LT: No, I don't think we can skip it, it's a very important contest, since there are so many photocomics on here. Most likely, people didn't realize you were taking nominations. If you don't have any, you need to put out another call for nominations. Last year, people would post a thread to let it be known that they were starting to take nominations. A reminder, you see. If you're having RL problems, it's very understandable that you would have a hard time running this. Maybe IH2005 would be willing to reschedule your two contests until just before the three 'overall' categories. Watching the other contests run will help you understand how we do this thing, and he's running those last 3, so he can move them pretty painlessly. That will also give you time to collect nominations for the Photo contest. Edit:The more I think about this, the more I think rescheduling would be good, since it's only 2 days 'til T+C starts her nomination drive, and there's going to be interference or delays if you go ahead just now. If you wait, you can do this without having a fuss. If this contest is giving you too much trouble, or there is something you don't understand, please feel free to ask for advice, or for someone to take over, if you've changed your mind. Don't feel bad, nobody will be upset. This is just something we do for fun.
LT: No problem at all. You tried your best, but life happens. Just forward me whatever nominations you've received. I'll hold on to them until Ironhide2005 gets back. I'm willing to run both, and Trans+Crazy volunteered as well, earlier, but IH2005 is coordinating the awards, so I'll let him have the final say on who, and when, they will happen. In the meantime, I think Trans+Crazy should go ahead with nominations as planned on the 22nd, so all the other contests don't get pushed back or overshadowed in any way. Much easier for IH2005 to reschedule some of them, than all of them.
I'll definitely create a thread stating that nominations are open for Best Humorous Character tomorrow, first thing I get online (which should be around 9 AM Eastern Time). I have no idea who's running the Best Serious Character. Or I'll just wait and see what Ironhide2005 has to say on the subject.
Do we even have anyone running best serious character, or are you doing that, Ironhide? It not, considering my comic is humor and has no serious characters, I can run that one if no one else is available. Just let me know by tomorrow so I can start a thread up.
I just started a thread reminding people that nominations are now open for Best Humorous Character, and I reminded them of the rules and told them how to format their nomination PMs. Hopefully I'll be getting some nominations before voting starts on January 27.
Oh wait you are suppose to be running best serious alongside it. If you don't want to I don't mind stepping up to the plate but serious and funny are at same time
