He is the last survivor of some horrible experiment, which left his hair purple.

...It's not quite as horrible as some other experiments, but it's still pretty bad.

 

His hair is purple due to a HORRIBLE grape juice incident.

 

He was in a field of flowers, a radioactive spider bit one of the flowers making it spray this guy with pollen. The pollen gave him no powers, but did dye his hair.

 

Obey the captain with the purple hair and beard, fools! D8
