For those that are fans of Conan O'Brien, my submission for his December 'Terrible 20' was voted as the #1 submission for his list for December.

The 'Terrible 20' is a list of 20 terrible ideas, with his crew writing the 20-11 ideas and fans submitting for 10-1. My submission for the category '20 Terrible Unneighborly Myths the Mythbusters could Bust' was voted as the #1 idea.

You can find it and all of the other comments at teamcoco.com

My cousin appeared on that show last year. He was the Asian Harry Potter that threw off conan's HP7 joke.

A couple people have asked me I a) how make these comics so fast, b) what software I use. The answer to B actually explains a bit of A.

I create Hearts of Plastic a bit differently than most of the creators on this site. While most either use Photoshop or MS Paint, I use Microsoft Powerpoint and MS Paint to create the strip. Powerpoint, due to its ease of use when it comes to Layering, and ability to quickly move between panels, allows me to edit the speech bubbles very quickly, meaning I can write as little or as much as I want and then edit the bubble and position it to make the most out of the space I have. I also use many of the Object Effects Powerpoint offers to enhance the pictures (for example, using the tinting effect allows me to enhance colors either slightly or extremely, such as when I had Bumblebee create the Sari Green Lantern Construct; I also use the glow effect to create lightsabers, energy shots, green lantern glows and, coming soon, Force Ghosts).

For the merging of images, I use an upgraded MS Paint to select cut out characters (similar to how Photoshop does but I find it more user friendly), create white space, extend backgrounds, and to do fill-in layering (for example, inserting a character behind a window but allowing the original background to appear is a three layer process).

As for the photos themselves, I plan sometime soon to begin my "Guide to Comic Writing" thread to explain that, but I will say the number one time saver is planning ahead (ie, realizing you will need three characters to appear over several strips means you can take all your photos at once instead of only a shot of 4, editting the entire strip, then resetting characters again).

I want to get your guy's opinion...what should be my first topic for the guide:

    1) Panels (The rules, the dos and don'ts, and how to use them effectively to tell your joke)

2)Character creation (how to develop personalities, and find a character's voice)

    3) Posing (how to make a toys look alive, even when they have limited range of motion)

    4) The Rules of Your Universe (understanding the importance of setting guidelines for what can and can't happen...and understanding when to break them)

I'll also take suggestions (remember though, the guide is about writing and staging a comic, not special effects since there is already a guide for that)

I'd say the first thing to start with would be character development. Before you can start thinking of jokes and such, you need to know who your characters are and what kind of things they would do in a certain situation.
