It's not the Green Lantern's fault his movie was terrible, it was the writer's.

 

Actually, I blame editting. I tease it but I really enjoyed the movie but fault the strange editting (IE Hal's first time saying the oath intercut with Hector's transformation... that is a powerful moment that should have been played straight). Also, there were scenes filmed that were cut, including a lot more on Oa, and the fact that the Green Lantern Corp originally came to earth to help Hal in the final battle.

 

Wow, that changes alot.
