Next update has been completley shot & 'shopped. But there's a storm here, so I'm going to wait till later before uploading it & mining the URLs to post here. It is the start of the Review... Looks like it will be 4 or 5 updates for the whole Review.

No problem. I know people have a life beyond the net & TFs.

Yeah, it seems my cell is just really bad at picking up light... The problem w/ that lamp, other than it being a loaner when not in use, is that it burns HOT! Can't get too close or put it somewhere I could bump into it.

Also, I expected you to comment on Slag's part... & noone seems to be picking up on my Classics Grimlock... May need to do something more advanced to get his characterization across...

Drift & Jazz... Blurr isn't there.. You'll see why when I post the update...

Well, Jazz IS a Ninja, & both practice Metallikato, so I figured both would be able to do the technique... They do train together at times... Another instance of the RARE interline interactions prior to the comic.

And yet another thing that seems to throw people off I didn't expect to. Seems this may keep on going... I expect once I get the review finished & get a 'Bot to explain the rules of this Alternity, it will surprise EVERYONE!

This is why Rodimus was shown at the beginning of the comic. I hadn't planned WHEN they were going to combine, but I had planned that they WOULD at some point... & I've always seen Rodimus' engines as boosters in combined mode, so it works here for getting everyone up. Plus, they're reviewing the heaviest armed Decepticons in the Alternity, who can combine into one of the most powerful! It's best the Autobots have their own combiners on hand, as a precaution.

Rodimus & Wheeljack are probably my favorite Energon toys... & they tend to be paired together... & their independent & combined forms look better than most.

In story, though noone wants Wheeljack to repair them, he is a mechanic & if something happened to him, they'd be slagged, so Rodimus is kinda his body guard.

Technically, if I follow the same naming pattern, it's the whole name/ 2 sylables of the "head" 'Bot & the end of the "legs", so it'd be: Wheeljack-imus. Definitely better than Wheelimus.

Yeah, it's not going to be too HARD, just a lot of repititon, w/ a touchpad (sold my mouse, which I barely used). At least them all being one color will make the glow easy.

I know there were other Rescue Zords (there always are), but I don't remember them... & the Supertrain Harvesters could be explained by Skynet getting the blueprints/ capturing the Supertrain Megazord & reverse engineering/ cloning it.

I don't typically mix my lines when I get them out to play w/ them... Kinda have to for the comic, but it's working nicely. I think at least once I included Ultra Magnus' trailer for the base...

Yeah, Decepticons hadn't wound up w/ the best of toys till recently... Usually Megatron, Starscream & a new 'Con or 2 unique to that series gets the most attention & best engineering & aesthetics on the evil side. Beast Wars being a MAJOR exception.

Congratulations. I dont' have any kids, so I don't know what it's like... I have 2 nieces though... Unfortunately, my injury keeps me from being able to play w/ them much... No balance doesn't mix w/ toddlers.

I'd like to buy a lot of the stuff coming out now (less most movie toys), but no money means I can't... I'm trying to find ways to get 3 Generations/ Reveal the Shield figures, who will appear in the comic if I can get the means to get them (so I won't say which), including collecting soda cans...

    Time for the review! Nice.

Yeah, work, snowstroms, a wedding to go to...long week.

Dang that kind of sucks. But at least you have a light for now.
Yeah, i noticed it...got a good laugh there. More so I was just commenting on the first things that popped in my head after reading the last update.

Ha! I meant jazz, and my brain was literally reading it as jazz when i typed it. My brain must be getting hardwired to type blurr and drift together lol

Another one of your instances of making me say "oh yeah, that does make sense!" But also the teleport effect itself was cool. And a nice way to do a teleport with only one panel as well.
Yeah. It was just one of those things. You still see energon toys around here, but barely ever combining.
    Sounds cool.
Yeah it makes sense. I always saw those as boosters as well.
My favorite combination requires doubles. I thought i lost my rodimus when i moved, so I got another, found out later my brother had it. So now I combine two rodimus's together it looks sweet. For the rest of the bots, not to many actually look good. I kinda like hot shot with inferno, but only when hot shot is on top.

Having a body gaurd is probably a good idea then.

    Yeah, way better than wheelimus.

Yeah. Once you do it, it will come naturally I think.

I was referring to this one. I liked mostly due to having combined form and robot modes.
Power Rangers Central / Database / Power Rangers Turbo
Never did get that toy though.
Yeah that would make sense, but then it's extra dailouge and backstory to put in. I think I'll pass. I just got the new samurai megaord, so he may show up. just to continue my tradition of having a random megazord in the mix.

Lol I long ago stopped worrying about lines mixing. The worst part is when I was doing that for bases-everyone else was "beast wars only" mindset, so my beast bots were using the trailers and power up parts.

Yeah, especially during the unicron trilogy.

Well, this will be my first, so it's pretty intense. I'm pretty excited though!
    Yeah, that's no good.
For me I Must have kup first and formost. He makes a nice bookend for my collection. As g1 kup was the first thing I got offline when I started collecting again. So It would be a nice way to end things. I also need g2 prime....guess who that is gonna be lol, and wheeljack. Scourge is nice, but I have titanium, perceptor would make a nice upgrade for the comic, wreck gar is kinda if i get him, i get him, if i don't i don't.

I'll probably post a link over in the ACO thread when it's all done. & everything so far has been building to this... Actually, I had planned to start w/ this, but Drift just wanted to get slagged first...

I'm shooting the review in a better lit room, almost directly under an overhead light, so aside from the side blocked from the light by the figure, it should be decently lit (I'm still using the LED Flashlights to try to augment the light being fixed). There were other issues w/ shooting the update, but I think I've dealt w/ them in a creative way.

For future updates, unless I have that light, I'll be trying to shoot in better lit rooms... Unless it's supposed to be dark.

I wasn't sure if I was going to have Slag ram Straxus again or not till I started the shoot. It seemed the place to do it, & I might as well have 2 running gags going (I'll get back to the other w/ the Decepticons near the end of the review).

I had a feeling that was the reason for the error... I don't have Badaft Squad... I do have Combat Squad, but they're actually tough, compotent fighters.

Well, that tends to approximate how Ninja are shown to "teleport". & anything that looks cool to compress extra panels. Though, some people may complain I compressed this update too much... But how I did things makes for better comparisons on some things... May post it soon. Storm sounds like it could've past... The News is showing the worst has.

Well, it was a fairly dumb gimick... & most of the toys look like crap in one mode or another (some all). I only got the cool combining Autobots from that series, so it doesn't matter too much which I use. Rodimus & Wheeljack I already have personalities for, & noone else has their names, since I'm using "Hot Rod".

I do have Inferno... Think I tend to pair him w/ Prowl. Really, Rodimus, Prowl, "Wheeljack" & Inferno were probably the 4 best of the line.

Well, that IS what they are in Truck mode... Only makes since to carry it over to another mode they're exposed in.

I think I've seen that combination; not sure when or where... Though, it may have been using the checkered repaint for one or both...

He might be the ONLY Medic from Energon I have...

That's how Gimp's been so far...

Barely remember that one... Definitely don't remember the robot modes though...

Japanese or US release of the Samurai Megazord? The US one looks like it had A TON of stuff cut out, partly/ mostly due to pinch hazzards... Especially the Blue Dragon... None of the US one's have their Oragami forms... @.@

I didn't mix lines not in fear of forgetting who went w/ what (that's easy enough to see), but 'cause the aesthetics rarely mesh well... Till now...

I have a few non-Megatron Decepticons from the Unicron Trilogy... not sure I'll use them though... Not immediately at least...

It's nice they've redone Kup, but I wish he'd've been done better... Huge improvement over his original, but I know they could've done him better if they tried... If I get a Wheeljack, I'll have to work out a way for him to reformat... lol

I saw somewhere on the boards someone finally worked out a "microscope" mode for RtS Perceptor. It was shown w/ the United version, I think.

If I find the extra money for Wreck-Gar (after the 3 I hope to get), I almost have to get his retool too, as they can ride one another... Playing around w/ them to Dare to Be Stupid would be a must...

Update 8: The Review Part 2: Accessories

Update Index now added to the first post. I decided to start early, so if this get's to be big enough to need one, I don't have to search for the Links to all my updates then! It will also make finding Updates in the off chance I get nominated for an award easier. As well as make it easy for those who just want to read the review to find those updates.

Nice reveiw. I didn't even know about the mode to make him a launch platfrom for blast off. Creative use of the technical issues too! Also, I wasn't expecting a transformation shot in the middle of the review, nice.

Yeah pretty clever with that. Way more interesting than your standard toy reveiw at least.
Probably a good idea. That table your shooting on now seems pretty well lit.
Yeah. It never hurts to have running gags. helps to "give the comic identity" in the eyes of readers.

    Yeah, I don't know how I didn't catch that.

Yeah, much faster than my star trek beaming at least. I think I may have wasted too much time on panels for that effect.
Yeah it was kind of lame...but it did add to the playability a bit. I had fun getting them all and messing around with various combinations...but after that first time it kind of wore off.

Mostly I love inferno because he is still a pretty decent stand in for g1 inferno. I never got the universe one. He looks good as legs but then there is no posability that way. Prowl is decent. I still love him just for the sheer wtf of him. I mean a cybertronic indy/police car. kinda weird.

    yeah.
Yeah, it definiteley looks good when the paintschemes matched. Of course not so much anymore....i got the crazy idea to try and battle damage one of them since I had two. let's just say my version of battle damage involved a lighter lol

I don't know how the show worked....did they even have a medic in energon?

    Yeah.
I don't think they actually used the robot modes very much on the show...a couple of times at best.

It's the american one. But i could never import shinken oh.so 25 bucks was a nice deal for me. He still looks cools at least. But yeah, that thing is seriosly screwed up. Aside from being gimped, there are a lot of missing paint apps. The blue dragon is really messed up...probably the worse. The monky lost its elbow joints...and paint on its face. Bear is about the same i think, it just has the part that froms the megaord kneepad molded in instead of folding out. Turtle is pretty much the same. Slightly larger from what i have seen. lion is way smaller than boj one. All that said though, I like the more streamlined look of the full megazord. Plus that stupid interchangability with the 2010 dino megazord got me. Dino looks stupid with the new arms, but samurai looks pretty good with the mastadon arms. So it's kind of the same situation as the 2010 dino- pretty crappy when compared to the original, but a decent enough price to make me want it. Plus, i collected megazord's before coming back to tfs, and back then they were 40 bucks a pop.
lol My collection is one big melting pot. And I normally throw any weapon that isn't a part of altomed into a box of weapons so i just grab a random gun when i need one. The exception being the few g1 toys I have.
I have armada cyclonus and energon snowcat...that's about it for non-screamer or megatron cons from those days. Oh and nemisis breaker..but he's more an add on for megs than anything else.
Well I found kup and scourge, so I got them. Kup is pretty much everything I expected. Still love him. The arm panels being his major downside. I was really surprised by how much I like scourge. lol and I only grabbed him because they didn't put out the rest of the new stuff.

Yeah. If they could have done something to the arm panels...and maybee foled the wheels away somehow.
That's why WJ hasn't showed up in mine yet. I figured I'd just wait for the new one, so I don't have to upgrade yet another character.

Yeah I seen that. He's a case of If I see him..I might grab him, but after some of the others.

If I get him, I'm just gonna go for one Wreck-gar, and hold out for a junkion repaint.

Next update has been shot. Will 'shop this (Weds.) evening

Better get on it then... Once they're no longer being Restocked, the price is going to go all the way to Cybertron... (I hear Bruticus Maximus' price is already in orbit...) I know TFSource recently restocked...

They are GREAT stand ins for Classics Combaticons when Augmented by FansProject's upgrades. ^_^

I hope by time their Insecticons are available I'll have money again & can get them... But that's more like wishful thinking at this point... & Protector & Warbot: Defender have priority currently... I hate being broke when HasTak & others are revisiting so much of G1 w/ fitting updates...

Like I said in the review, few people bother covering it... But it's a nice extra mode (after I found a place for the extra parts that weren't given places), & gives Blast Off more playability. ^_^ I don't get why people don't like it. It's BETTER than G1! & better armed...

There is a part that I'm going to show w/ Explorer when I review him that allows him to stand properly in launch position. FansProject litterally made 2+ uses for every accessory! Though, the hand held missile pods are more a "what do we do w/ these left over bits?" than anything else... Still work for it...

I didn't want to just cut to them being in robot mode... Onslaught was 1/2 transformered to show the issue w/ the head NOONE ever shows (even Vangelus' Subtitles complained about mentioning but omitting it), but it didn't feel right to cut from Vortex & Brawl vehicle to Robot, so *poof* unexpected transformation panel... It still is my comic, so anything I may do during the comic may be used during the review... Still considering a few options... Brawl didn't turn out too well, but I don't think I could make it better... I considered just showing a panel mid-transformation, but didn't take such a pic...

I already have a sequence in mind for Swindle... he'd be easy to pull off... Still thinking about Blast Off...

& I still have yet to decide who goes first...

Not sure if I'll use it in the next update... Going to try to aviod turning the phone... Might take a pic each way, just to be sure I get the shot... & if anyone was going to be trusted w/ a camera & screw it up, it'd be Animated Bumblebee... Hot Rod's not sure why he let Wheeljack enhance his boosters to full flight capability...

I took my cues for the problems from ACO reviews, where this was originally meant to start. They tend to take a while before starting to deal w/ the toy, then have glitches or interruptions throughout...

& I didn't feel like reshooting over 1/2 the pics, so might as well get a few jokes in, the obligatory "Bumblebee screwed up again", & use the space for info. If I manage to avoid turning the camera, but need/ want the space, it's easy enough to recreate maually.

That's why it's being shot on the Wood Plateau. Can't have a lighting problem when certain things need to be clear & well lit...

Maybe I should look into finding different sheets to cover the table for various locations?

I think people may appreciate the other running gag more... Had to do a bit of research for it... Can you guess what it is? I had decided to do this one before starting the comic... Slag just happened to be an accident of camera angle & my going "why not"?

If I did a Star Trek-like beam out, I'd've tried to cut it to 2 panels on the dematerialization & just one on the rematerialization. Don't need to duplicate the entire beam in bit if you just did the beam out.

I mixed & matched & quickly settled on the Emergency vehicles as a team & Wheeljack & Rodimus as a team... Sometimes went back to Rodimus' canon partner, but not too much... Prowl did have nice posability, even if he was strangely proportioned...

Yeah, Energon Inferno has decent looking modes, but his leg form is worse than G1 brick. But it is the most stable set of legs, gotta admit that. I didn't get much from the Universe lines...

I wonder how Astrotrain got his name before landing on a planet w/ shuttles & trains?

& Sonic X had an Indy-like Police Car, but more aerodynamic, w/ Rocket Engines one upgrade... Energon Prowl is more realistic that Sonic X's. Hard to say which series could be considered better, too...

I've read that someone did the same thing w/ Gundams for their comic... I'm just going to 'shop damage unless a ball-joint pops at a workable time.

I don't remember too much of Energon... Probably best that way...

The original set of Rangers would've used the robot modes. The Red Dragon & White Tiger are proof enough of that... Though I don't get why Tommy went from cool Green to joke White... That took some of the cool out of him...

I stopped getting Zords w/ Ninja... Never got Tor, but I have all the rest. Wish I could've gotten the Shogun Zords... It was interesting the Falcoln Zord was still usable w/ it... & Tommy got his "Machine Guns" that the White Tiger didn't have back.

I try to keep all the parts of my robot toys together w/ the original figures. They look better that way. My comic either would be different or non-existant if I mixed my TFs up.

I have Cyclonus, 2 of the 3 Unicron Trilogy Starscreams (the 1/2 ghost F22 had one of his arms break), the bike Double-Headmaster Sideways, 2 of the 3 Megatrons & I don't remember what else for the Decepticons. Wasn't Snowcat a reformatted Cyclonus? I did once (maybe more) manage to get Leobreaker onto Megatron... Not sure how Hasbro expected people to work out how w/o instructions, though... I guess Nemesis Breaker came w/ them?

Well, there's proof they're out... Now to find them around here & the means to get them... TFW's main page just said they just released Scourge, Wheeljack & Kup's wave.

I think a Flying Wing is an appropriate upgrade for G1 Scourge. It retains his aesthetic in both forms, just giving him wings. Nice they left in his head popping out in vehicle form too... As well as his cape.

Still, it's Kup... & is even close to the right color... A waist would be nice, instead of what appears to be an exposed spring, though...

I couldn't see doing my comic w/o a Wheeljack, especially if I can't be sure I'll be able to afford to get him... His crazy inventions allow for unorthodox plots, plot resolution, craziness, & MacGuffins, if I find I'm in need of one. Not to mention the maintenence jokes that go w/ him. Lol

I seriously doubt I'll be able to get Perceptor. The Half-track mode looks nice, but makes me ask what was HasTak thinking? IF I can find money & Rumble (RiB/ FiR, as I didn't read the comics), I may grab him for Soundwave...

Well, there's already been a pic of the Junkion Repaint (2 if you count United seperately), which is what I meant by Retool.

Yeah, I like it. That's kind of cool.
at least they did something with the parts. Most companies wouldn't have bothered with it.

It looked pretty good to me.
Tough question, personally, I'm partial to swindle.
    Quote:
Yeah, it's a lot more entertaining that way.
    Yeah, that's true.
Yeah, that could work. I mean, I once used my pants as set dressing. lol

Hmmm. another running gag? I'm not sure. Is it something that has already happened?

Yeah, in hindsight...I think I wasted a lot of panels on it. But I wanted to really make sure people understood what was happening, as the effect didn't come out as good as I had imagined.

Yeah, and prowl was better than some at having the arms actually look like arms. That's one gripe I have with that rodimus. I wish his combined mode looked more like on the show....with actual arms separated from the truck bits, and the truck parts being more like big shoulder pads. Hot shot has some of the worst arms for combined mode. Although....powerlinking doubles of hot shot is hilarious....it looks like he has a giant turtle shell due to the two fronts on his back. I never intended to have two...but I found a hot shot at a goodwill for 50 cents.

Yeah. It's rock solid as legs.

Hmmm...... perhaps he had a different "cybertronian" name.....but then the comics still call him astrotrain.

    I'm unfamiliar with that reference.

Well Gundams were the reason I tried it. Not the model kits...but the actual action figures they used to sell. They were made of a softer plastic....that looked great when battle damaged with a lighter. On rodimus...not so much...just some black globs.

    yeah...Kicker....*shudders*

The real reason....out of japanese footage to use. and of course to sell toys. That way everyone wants the new tigerzord. But yeah. Green ranger and dragonzord just can't be topped.

I used to have the nija zords...but not anymore, but now I do have the shogunzords. The stupid american one with the pink arm instead of white. Still-probably my favorite megazord design ever. Of course he has exactly two points of articulation....but that's what you get with Zords.

Yeah, I have just never been big on weapons. I prefer integrated things like hot rod's wrist blaster/pipes.

So they wern't in leobreakers instructions? that's funny. They were in nemisis breaker's. I actually have two nemisis breakers...cuz one came in a big lot I found at goodwill. They are actually both on my cybertron prime right now.
Well, I just hit up the big city and found they only had the tracks/jazz wave...so the new stuff hasn't hit saturation in my area yet. I went back to my local walmart today...nothing just those two that I got. I'm actually seeing a lot of stores have restocked tuner skids and elita one's wave as well. But I am seeing thunderwing more too.

Yeah. He is the most surprising figure so far for me. I did not expect to like him this much.

Yeah he is KUP! I have waited years for a new kup...so i love him. The arm panel thing is just a minor thing in my eyes..but I know it ruins him for a lot of folks.
This is true. Lots of potential with him. I just didn't want to start off with him and have to upgrade him, especially since I might be upgrading perceptor. I think I have good spot for WJ whenever the pred planet story is over, and it goes into the second story arc.

I might get him. But I typically don't go for scouts until after I have all the new deluxes I want.

I saw the one from the three pack....I didn't know if was confirmed or not if the junkion will be released stateside. I mean it probably will...since the new head has already been tooled.

'Shopping the next update now. Not saying who got to be reviewed next. :p

That's how FansProject does things: everything has a place...

...except for those missile pods in Base Mode for an unknown reason. I like them where I put them. & Blast Off still fits unhindered.

Well, part of the arms unfolding is hard to see.

Let's just say the way Hot Rod settles it, & the outcome, should get more than just a few laughs...

Well, that kinda is the point of doing a comic, & one point of doing a review as a comic.

Well, a sheet would be less recognizable & more evenly distributed than pants...

Yes, I put the seeds of what will be a full blown running gag in one of the early updates (can't remember exacly which, nor would I say if I could). Considering what it is, it may not even seem like it could be a running gag, as it sticks close to the character it's centered around. Which, if I'm not mistaken, should be the best kind.

I don't remember it not being recognizable, so as far as I could tell, it must have looked fine.

Can't pass up that price, even if he is one of the more hated characters/ not so great toys.

G1 rarely, if ever, changed their names once on Earth/ acquiring their earth mode. & Blitzwing is 1/2 German, another uncertainty as to how he'd even take it once arriving on Earth... MOST of G1 took place in the US.

Be glad. Sonic X wasn't that great a Sonic anime. The joke w/ the Police race car was he'd keep trying to race Sonic, upgrading his engine each time (one I remember an actual Rocket Booster), & rearranging the buildings mid-race so he could travel straight, but Sonic couldn't, & would still lose. They justify it by saying he takes down speeders or something... @.@

I only have ONE Gundam Kit. Never had the money for them in addition to TFs. & I'd never intentionally damage one of my toys.

That still doesn't explain why they made the White Ranger a joke character.

Most Zords. The Original's legs could move, Ninja's legs had slight movement... Granted, a lot of that has to do w/ transformation.

Well, I think everyone prefers integrated weapons to parts you can lose.

Nope, I had to work out how it worked by the connections on the toys & what I could remember of the show... Which I don't think matched up perfectly/ was shown in completion... Too bad Prime can't use Leobreaker & Wing Saber together...

People I've asked to look still have yet to see Tracks here.

That just proves that for once, HasTak is trying to impress us again.

I can get around the arm panels, but something about him just looks a little off to me for some reason...

I don't have to worry about massive numbers of upgrades... But Wheeljack is one of my favorite characters, so I couldn't not use the one I have...

I rarely bother w/ Scouts at all, but he looks nice, I don't have one, & it looks like his Piledrivers work!

Someone posted here that Wreck-Gar's instructions show a different head than Wreck-Gar's, & that has been a good indicator of a retool here.

    Yeah, it's pretty awesome.

Yeah, it looks good that way.

    Oh I see.

    Can't wait to see it.
    Yeah.
Yeah, and different colors could be different places, pretty good idea.

Hmm...sounds intriguing. I'm gonna have to go back and re-read your comic. I have no clue lol

My main issue with was that I used photoshop to automatically put in "static" for the dematerialization. I should have created my own "sparkles" to more closely match the show.

Yeah. I still almost didn't buy him. It was missing the car roof peices...but I figured I'd get it just to see what powerlinking two hot shot's looked like.
Yeah, one of the logic falures of an old cartoon lol I much prefer the theory that they just picked suitable names, as humans could not say their real names.

    Sounds weird.

I tried my hand at about three kits. I suck at models and I suck at painting...so I just went with the regular action figures. I eneded up with a lot of doubles. Because when gundam wing hit the us-the regular toys came out, then later the same toys came out with a sort of "premium" treatment. All the yellow was replaced by gold and things like that. So I battle damaged up some up the doubles.

Meh...probably trying to tone things down more. There was a lot of parental group outcry back then.

Yeah. SHogun can't move his legs due to how the red one's legs transform.
    Yeah.
Yeah, I think the show glossed over some parts.
He can't...that sucks. I never did get a wing saber. I wanted one, as that looks to be one of the better combinations from those days.

Well, I only saw them the one time before x-mas before now. So I think they might start showing up some more.

Yeah, and the best part the pics don't really show is you can make him slightly taller. His kness are supposed to sit kind of behind his thighs for a slight knee pad effect. But you can actually swivel them up, so his kneejoints are above the lower legs. This gives him more height and straighter legs

I think he's pretty cool. But he could stand to have a waist swivle.

    Yeah.
Yeah, he does look pretty cool. But I think I'm just gonna wait till later on him.

I must have missed that. That is awesome news!

I thought so. Didn't take me long to work it out either... I don't like spare parts, espeically if every other mode has some form of place for them...

You still probably won't catch it.

Really, a glowing orb then a panel w/ them gone is enough to get across that they transported. The effect is just what you want it to look like.

    I hate incomplete things...

Another logic failure, ignoring the animation error of them flying, is how Autobots who had hover modes on Cybertron can't fly, or how the Dinobots, built by non-flying Autobots on Earth w/ archaic tools, could be built to fly... Swoop is understandable, but not the others.

    Understatement.

I got a Master Grade, I think, so I didn't have to do any painting. & I don't get duplicates of stuff (again, Sunstreaker & Sideswipe being RARE exceptions), & almost never get special versions. I'd rather spend the extra $10+ (Usually I'm faced w/ that decision on DVDs) on a new TF or more anime than extras I don't need.

The shows never were big on exact details for transformations... Then you have the animation & continuity errors to contend w/...

I think it took me a while before I got Wing Saber, but he usually is in that mode. Definitely better than what I saw of the Energon Wing Saber... Still haven't decided if I'm going to keep him combined when I get around to a meeting of the Council of Primes.

Walmart is probably holding off on Generations/ RtS, as the new DotM line will be starating soon... & Prime... So many TFs coming out at once/ so close together might be overwhelming them...

I've heard Target might be the place to look for them... I know their site, briefly, had Tracks on it, & I've seen other RtS figures on the site as well... Walmart has none, as of last time I looked... I've seen Darkmount at Walmarts though...

Well, for some reason, HasTak doesn't know how to transorm their own stuff for pics, so I'm not surprised. & the instructions tend to be missing steps sometimes too...

It was front paged. That's how I saw it. Whoever posted it even included a pic of the instruction sheet as proof.

Update 9: The Review Part 3: Who Goes First?

I had to reshoot this ENTIRE update, as few if any of the pics came out... Could've been due to the cell being nearly dead the first shoot...

Also, not actually in the review, but a part of it, FansProject intentionally left out Explorer's windows, as he isn't a manned Shuttle; he's an Experimental Unmanned Shuttle Drone: an X-34. This solves the scaling issue between the Combaticons: Swindle is a larger "Jeep", Blast Off a smaller "Shuttle", & the others equivalents of their original selves.

I've also been wondering if I should be centering my comic, or if you all think it's fine as is?

Nice...getting better all the time. This one was very informative. Andhad story too! I love that lions showed up. And swindle cutting a deal. Also-I didn't know that blast off was based on a real drone. That is awesome. Nice bit of trivia.
    Yeah, I'm stumped.

Yeah...it's just my weird ocd. If you couldn't tell from my delorean effects, I have this thing where I have to get it as close to the source material as possible.

Yeah...but he was 50 cents so i didn't really care.

Yeah. I hated that when I finally went back and re watched all of g1.

Yeah. But I was young and stupid...Plus it was back when I had my first job. The parents wern't to keen on toys for the younger siblings...so I was buying for me and my brothers.

Yeah...the one i really hated was the g1 "morphing transformations" like when g1 primes bumper would just sort of morph into the full waist piece of his character model. Then there was the "transformations" in Beast machines.

Well it would definitely help him look more impressive.

I think this is the case. Most walmarts by me have consistently followed a cycle since generations and HFTD started. Nothing...then they put out a few of the newest stuff for like a week. then that gets sold...then they do a full restock of older waves....then nothing for a long time. Repeat cycle. Most of the walmarts by me just restocked. Nothing but walls of tuner skids and elita one....with the occasional thunderwing in the mix.

Well, so far, the only place I have seen jazz or tracks was target ...both times.

Yeah. But it is very rare that a figure suprises me like this. I usualy know beforehand if I will like a tf or not. I didn't hate scourge before i got him...but he didn't "wow" me either. Now he's my new favorite.

Nice. now if I could just find wreckgar first. But then...I want the g2 prime before wreck gar. Maybee I will luck out and find them both at the same time.

    That's what I'm going for.

I can't be expected to bring the comic I JUST started to a full stop just to do the review for some MMS analyst, can I? Especially after setting up the MMS needing a threat assessment as an exuse to do a review mid-comic? Had this been an ACO Review, I wouldn't have had the story elements, but the Decepticons would've showed up to interfere & start a short fight instead... (basically, what Chapter Zero was initially planned to be, but much shorter)

This is also why I have so many guards/ medics. In addition to their role if Bruticus would go berserk (still haven't decided if he will), I can cut to any 2 for a gag, conversation, random comment or something if I feel a break was needed... Jazz mostly filled that role here, but I still had the cut to Ironhide & Grimlock, just to remind people they're still there & are B-O-R-E-D. As well as showing that Classics Grimlock isn't as stupid as Animated Grimlock.

About time I got to include two in person... I've had this point somewhat planned for a while (Lance showing up before the others part way through the review, before he's needed for a comparison w/ Bruticus). I rather like how Darkmount's missile launcher can be 'shopped to double for the Lions marterializing missile pods. Before I got back up just now, I thought of doing the same w/ Movie Classic Camero Bumblebee's Machine Gun-ish weapons. I wonder what other weapons I have that I should take pics of for that reason?

I'm much happier w/ Pidge's missile effects than I was w/ Drift, then again that is an easier to work w/ camera angle.

Well, he's Swindle. He's upset his deal to be reviewed first fell apart, due to his failing to inform Starscream what was going on... & he's mad his cheat failed due to Astrotrain arriving earlier than Swindle told him to. So, in light of all that, how could I not have him make a sale? He's Swindle, he's NAMED Swindle, I had to have him sell something to someone so he'd be taken seriously... (him trying to sell to his RiD counterpart, which I treat as G1, was another instance of seeing them when I took a pic after moving one out of the way & going "that'd make a nice joke"... Can't remember why I tilted the camera for that panel) & I had him trying, somewhat successfully actually, to extort money from the MMS to show just how greedy & how much of a threat he can be.

Besides, my Explorer really did come w/ cracks, & I really did get a whole replacement, so I have the extra set of weapons... I wasn't sure if I wanted to use them, but I had to replace Explorer's Bruticus shoulder joint, as the gearing did strip to dust, so it's not like he's MISB. & I had to make sure the replacement didn't need a replacement...

It also happened that I got the bright idea to see if Jazz could actually hold the Combaticons' guns, to guard their weapons USING their own weapons, & it was a perfect fit! I was also having trouble thinking of a way for the shotgun formation to be mentioned, & it just clicked: have Swindle try to sell it to someone! & Jazz being Security Officer AND the 'Bot who negociated the review terms w/ Swindle (which did include him getting reviewed first, but Jazz's report never got that far), plus looking cool w/ the guns, made perfect sense to be the buyer.

Btw, did Swindle shouting Scissors LATE come across well? Maybe it'd've been better to do Pap-Scissors (I can do that bubble effect), but I wanted enough of paper to show so people not familiar w/ the game would understand.

Few people do. Before he was released, on one of the discussion boards here about his then upcoming release, someone posted that pic of the X-34 & Explorer & a link to the Wiki page. Complaints about the lack of windows died down a little, but not completely after that... But then people complained about the G1 paint scheme, which isn't bad really & is a close match to the NASA paint scheme... Just hard for my cell to get a good pic sometimes. & what kind of review would fail to mention that? Couldn't work it in in-comic, or under panel limit (it was already running long), but I had to say something, otherwise what's the point?

Good, then not only should everyone else be, noone should see it coming (though, really, someone really should), & it will be a nice surprise.

I'm only OCD about Security: did I remember to lock the door? Can a hacker use what I put up to screw up my life? Not so much on ANYTHING else...

& my head injury limits computer use (otherwise I'd have an update everyday, probably), so being OCD on effects would mean my comic never would get the next update... Assuming it even started at all, w/ all the lighting problems...

The quality of most of your effects does show that you spend some time on them. Though, I throw mine together & they look good too, so I can't tell just HOW much time you spend on them...

Yeah, some of the animation errors really can't be excused... & 1/2 the continuity problems involve multiple origins for Megatron & the Constructicons, some both (Ex. Megatron inventing the Constructicons, only to be revealed to have been BUILT by them later. @.@). I can resolve them, w/o a temporal paradox or any kind of time travel at all, but it's a mess...

I never had the money to try to get a whole line till 2003, & since that was Unicron Triligy time... I'm surprised I got so much of Beast Wars...

But MP Prime shows it CAN be done on a toy... So it isn't as out there as Swindle's chest. Beast Machine's was uncalled for though... At least the Vehicons still retained proper transformations... Too bad few of those toys reflected that... I still think it was messed up that the DRONES had better toys than most of the Generals... Jetstorm's Ultra wasn't THAT bad, but it's still got a few issues, in addition to being TOO BIG... Another complaint of Beast Machines is they forgot what the word 'scale' meant.

But an Optimus Prime doesn't need to impress other Optimus Primes... It'd also require the camera to be further away... Maybe I'll show all my Optimus' in their Super Modes later...

It's the only explanation I can think of that makes any sense. & I don't understand why Walmart insists on stocking the unwanted toys... @.@ Maybe if they had more variety, they'd have less overstock.

At least Targets are carrying the good ones.

The K-marts here seem to be a dumping ground for unsold stock...

I think I was talking about Kup... But Generations Scourge is an excelent reimagining of the Sweep Commander... Good thing I'm not tempted to Troop Build anything, or I'd have to find a way to Troop Build Scourge & his Sweeps...

I'm not all that impressed w/ G2 Prime. But I don't have ANY Wreck-Gars. I'd've gotten Animated's, except he looks like a Deluxe sold as a Voyager... Had he been the lost inbetween Mega, I'd've jumped... But $20 for him was just too much...

Yeah, you totally hit the mark with this one.

Yeah, Ironhide wanting in on the weapons was a perfect touch.

Yeah those launchers work pretty good for just about anyone you care to use them for.
Yeah, that is true. Showing missiles coming towards the camera is always a feat.

Yeah. It's classic swindle. Just what he would do in that situation.

Well, at least you got a replacement. Kinda sucks that that happened though. Did the replacement come from the middleman, or fansproject themselves?
Yeah...another everything falling into place moment.
I think it came acroos well enough. But then, I think it would be hard to find somebody who doesn't know about that game.

Well, i knew they were saying he was a drone and that's why he didn't have windows....I just didn't realize the drone was a real thing.

    Sounds awesome.
Hey, that can only be a good thing.

Yeah. My thing is just the nature of the comic. If I am going to call it ripoffs, and steal from movies...I might as well try to get things as close as possible.
Sometimes a long time (flying stuff). Most of the lasers...lighting...explosions are pretty fast with the stuff I have programmed in. The predator cloak takes a bit longer...but I'm getting faster at it. I average about 5 minutes to a half an hour per panel...depending on the effect. The longest ones were the aircraft carrier stuff....and that was just the time cutting it out with all the bots on top to go around.
Yeah. There were a lot of animation errors. My favorite has to be two soundwaves on the ark bridge in MTMTE. I never read the old marvel comics...but I far prefer the few bits of the comic I have seen. Of course without the show...we wouldn't have all the great voices. So in my mind g1 is kind of a mesh of everything.
lol I try not think of how much cash I have blown.

Yeah MP Prime and alternators are when the floodgates of what could be accomplished in a transformation were opened.
    Yeah. The vehicons rocked.
Same thing we are getting with some of these movie toys. One comes out...then later we get a better one closer to onscreen.
Yeah. Ultra jetstorm is pretty neat. He still couldn't get the head right though. At least the tank and cycle drones did that part.
Yeah. Unless you count air attack...rattrap is bigger than primal, silverbolt is tiny, and nightscream is just wtf huge.

Yeah. Could make a nice scene of them "suiting up"

I guess they figure if they leave em on the pegs long enough, eventually they will sell them. They don't want them sitting in the stockroom anymore than we want to buy them at this point. I foresee a lot of tuner skids, elita 1's, and sidearm sideswipes showing up at tj maxx next holiday season. The worst part is, I finally checked my tru last week-they frikkin restocked wth ROTF. REGULAR skids, REGULAR mudflap, chromia, and rotf preveiw bb. on top of the walls of sea attack ravages and Battle blades BB.
Yeah. Most of my stuff in the past 6 months has come from target.
I never go to k mart anymore. They never have anything. I found a red rampage there a year ago. That was the only time k mart ever had anything worth buying.

I think if he shows up i will just cheat. I would use the titanium for the sweeps and just photoshop an army of them. It would be nice to have three of them....but I don't have the cash for that.
I want it for the simple fact that I always wanted a g2 prime and never got one.
I just couldn't pass up garbage truck altmode. But now days every tjmaxx i go to has him for 7 bucks. Kinda makes me feel stupid for paying full price on him.

I actually forgot what most of what I was thinking for dialog was going to be for most of the panels, as I went to bed before 'shopping stuff, so I'm glad everything worked out... Well, except for the Roshambo bit, that was planned from the get go... & Jazz buying weapons, though some of that dialog I know differed from what I originally thought up. Plus there was cutting the update down to a manageable size, as I took too many pics (part of why there was so much of Blast Off compressed to multiple pics in single panels). Didn't help that I had to completely redo the entire shoot, due to horrid quality.

I thought so. He is essentially the Gun-happy Autobot, in most continuities... G1 & Movie aren't TOO different in reguards to him...

I considered recoloring it w/ Gimp... Might have to for the other Lions I might use it for... Not sure if BBs being black is a good color for the Lions or not.

If I do that again, I think I know how I'll handle it...

Yeah, Swindle writes himself... More-so than the rest I mean, as nearly everyone is writing themselves... I just have to work out how to seperate him from other Swindles on the boards, even though I only know of maybe 2. & I think I know how I'll do that... but it might make things WAY more complicated... I'm trying to limit how many plot lines I have to 2 'easy for me to keep track of' per side.

I think TFSource replaced it... But they could've requested one from FansProject, so I can't be sure...

Well, this is a multi-national board... I'm sure someone could be confused...

Well, it was ultimately cancelled, I think; as far as I know only prototypes exist. But it was a genius way to resolve the scale problems the original had.

Are you aware that Scourge is also an actual vehicle? A Flying Wing.

    I understand that reasoning...

Yeah, some panels can take me a minute, others maybe, RARELY, upto 15, but I don't think I pass that... Most of my effects are done from scratch... I'm not sure how to program things, yet... The 15 tends to be when I do multiple cut out & pastes, like the Skyfire drop panel, though I'm pretty sure that still was under 10 min. It's mostly how many attempts I have to take to get the selection tool to outline the objects right...

That's how my Alternity is... the best from the show & what I know from other sources. My rationalization for the Quintesons is that after the 13 had been lost to time after Primus made the rest of the original TransFormers, & Primus went into his hybernation, there was peace; the Quintesons invaded, managed to shutdown the TFs, reprogram them as their Domestic Products & Military Hardware; but their brain washing didn't work on one or more & they started becoming sentient again, over threw the Invaders & eventually wound up in the Great War. Or something along those lines...

I really need to count my collection... But some are burried in storage tubs.

& then Classics took off, then Animated & the movies pushed engineering limits, & now Generations/ Reveal the Shield is pushing the limits again... While DotM takes 5 steps backwards...

Probably the first time where the 'Cons had definitively better altmodes & transformation sequences than the good guys.

That's really the only reason I got RotF Optimus... Didn't get any other duplicates... For Bumblebee, I got his Classic Camero one, & Cliffjumper for the Concept upgrade. My 1st ever Cliffjumper, actually.

Beast Wars, the upgrades weren't necessarily better engineered than the earlier forms, just different. Though, Rhinox is really the only non-TransMetal I have, I think...

I really don't understand Ultra Jetstorm having that head, when he was clearly big enough to give him the proper head...

Yeah, not planning on doing much more than just a meeting w/ the Council of Primes right now. I'm mainly focusing on the Animated & Classics. & I don't have an Op for either.

I don't have the means to go to a TJMaxx to look for one... Never even thought to when I could get around & buy stuff...

I've considered 'shopping in Sweeps if I got Scourge, but don't know...

There was no way you could know he wouldn't sell... It was Wreck-Gar... Played by Weird Al for a continuity gag... I'm pretty sure EVERYONE thought he'd sell... Hasbro just got for how much wrong...

That's why I always try to do the update as soon as I take pics. As I will almost always forget the dialogue I planned if I wait.

    Yeah, like I said..perfect.

Yeah, being black might not show up all to well.

Makes me regret killing off swindle after essentially a one shot. Of course, back when he showed up, there really wasn't any story planned, so it made sense for me to use him how I did.

Well, either way, it was really awesome of them to replace it for you.

    Yeah, a pretty nice solution.
Yeah, I just recently found that out, after looking at the tfwiki entry for the new toy. It linked to this one, which is pretty darn close.
Boeing X-48 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    Very cool.

Yeah. It also helps that when I started photoshopping, it was for lightsabers. Then I was making ghosbuster costumes one year...which made me try the proton stream effect. Then the comic came along, giving me an excuse to cpoy even more movie effects.

Yeah, getting stuff cut out of pics is the most time consuming thing I do. Of course since it's my comic, I also always have to spend a quick minute or two adding in faces.
Yeah. That is actually pretty close to how I explain the quintessons in my fannon.

I have so much crap that counting it would be a long task indeed.

Yeah, it's kind of a head scratch-er. Although sentinel prime looks real good. You can kind of see the front of the truck is the chest area...but I can't figure out the rest of the transformation from the pictures seen so far.
Yeah, for sure. But of course it's also the reason I don't mind drones to much.

Yeah mine too. And the only reason I got that cliffjumper was at the time, new camaro BB was hard to come by. So I grabbed cliff just to have the mold. Then ROTF came and e got more bumblebees than anything...

I actually only have a few transmetal show characters. Depth charge, Cheetor, Dinobot. That's it for the ones that made it onscreen. Unless you count optimal optimus as a transmetal.

Yeah, they could have worked it in easily.
    I see.

I never thought of it until this year with all the supposed sightings of human alliance mudflap at tj maxx. So it started to fall into my toy hunting route.

Yeah. I wouldn't do it all the time. Mainly if there was some sort of big battle I would have multiple sweeps flying around.

Yeah. he was actually pretty scarce for a while, but now is showing up at these other stores in mass.

New Update has been shot, & will be 'shopped as soon as I can... Not sure if it will be up over night or not though...

My head injury can prevent that. It limits how long I can continuously use a computer, or even take pics (tiny screen) at times. But since I'm using established show personalities (wish I could remember more slang for Jazz), it isn't that hard to recreate an approximation of what I was thinking of doing w/ the pics I use. It can also cause me to forget what I was thinking of having them say immeidately after taking the pic (think that happened w/ the Ironhide & Grimlock panel) even.

The head injury also randomized my sleep, so... Same thing happened this update: shoot pics, go to bed... At least this time I planned & didn't think up dialog for the shots (I took pics of situations I could add dialog to easily from scratch). I did plan a few things, just not the exact conversations...

For instance, there was another line I was going to add HERE that I can't remember what it was even for.

That would depend on the lighting, angle & if I tried to highlight the weapon's openings.

Yeah, I don't think that made much sense to me. First, it's Swindle: he'd at least try to negotiate for his life. Second, he'd be willing to work for the other side, for the right price (especially for his life)... Third, there's so much you could do w/ a Swindle, it doesn't make sense to kill him!

You have a timemachine... you could always have Roddy or someone else go back for Swindle... They could find out Swindle had something they needed that was lost when he went offline... That could be what the Decepticons do to test it if they get it working & powered...

I was trying to link to that, but couldn't remember it was called an X-48... But remembered that design was generally called a Flying Wing & found the link I did... Didn't even think to look up Scourge's page. @.@

That has to help w/ all your glow effects.

Faces wouldn't take me too long to do, aside from figuring out what it'd look like... But I don't want to have to 'shop faces every panel...

That's probably about how most TransFans rationalize them. It's been so long, the Quints probably forgot themselves...

I'd just go by show/ line, & write the # down for each... That way I could do it over several days, if I had to... It's just 1) wanting to bad enough & 2) working out how to get to all my TFs.

I can work alot of it out. The hind wheels are roughly where MP Prime's are; the doors fold around onto the front, forming a chest similar to Ops; the front wheels angle down, under the torso (this & the rear wheels make it appear a flight mode like the Delorian's could be possible). It's just impossible to see how the back forms, & I don't know where the head stores yet. It looks like those figures not in the other 2 movies are getting advanced toys, while the returning ones are being made kid friendly. Makes sense, but still stupid.

There are a few DotM toys that I MIGHT get if I can find the cash for them, AFTER everything else I'd like: Sentinel Prime, maybe Megatron (his truck mode is stupid, a Megatron would never take an Optimus' altmode, but the engineering looks interesting), & maybe a couple others I can't remember right now... I wanted a Movie Prime w/ a trailer, but this one's looks S-T-U-P-I-D! I was hoping for one for MP Prime...

I didn't mind the drones in Beast Machines. Megatron had a good reason for it... Energon Optimus had no business w/ Drones... Not too keen on the PCCs either... They make no sense, & from what I hear are QC nightmares! Didn't like the Official movie Devastator as well... There's no point to a combiner w/o seperate robot modes in TFs. If I ever get money & can find it, I might get the Collection DX/ Legends RotF Devastator... Sad that's the best one out... As I'll be explaining in this next Update, FansProject's Colossus has Explorer, Munitioner & 3 drones... But I don't like that & modified them so they're the original Combaticons, but I did use the programming from the story for a different thing for mine... All will be explained soon...

I refuse to get the other Bumblebees. I like my movie Cliffjumper, & don't need other figures w/ the same modes w/ slightly different weapons... The flip up gattling guns one did tempt me though...

I have all the TransMetals that appeared in the show, & a few (Airrazor, Terrorsaur -- my ONLY Terrorrsaur & Airrazor -- & Rhinox, as well as a TM2 Jackel/ Hyena who didn't even have a show character...); TM Tarantulas is probably my fav. & I do count Optimal Optimus as TransMetal-esk.

Gimp makes it easy to duplicate things, so it's just a matter of cutting it out in the possitions (facing the directions) I'd want them in.

I really hate being broke & trapped at home during this time of superior TF releases...
