And, because these are easy to crank out, another installment of... RUNNING BATTLE (Part 5) "Awww YEAH! Upgrade to Voyager class!" "Still got the physique..." "... And now with the 'clean shaven' look the fembots go wild for!" "And that's not all! In the upgrade I finally get a gun..." "... And a spiffy new..." "... errr... spiffy... axe... kinda... thing..." "And I get to keep my trusty old axe!" "Heh, I bet Megatron is quaking in his servos. Wait until he gets a load of the new me!"
Cool poses there, Animated Prime XD. And uh-oh, he doesn't watch his back, does he? Nice update, Pol! ^^
Polenicus, these are a real treat to read! I must also agree with others; that whan reading TFW funnies, one should NOT be eating lunch. Each shot got better and better till the lastone...absolutely the best! Heh! can't wait for the next update .
These things are just too darn easy to crank out. I'm slowly getting better at catering to the limitations of this old camera, and this is a GREAT place to experiment with new effects, and to work on my posing and choreography. For instance, this installment has a new explosion effect, which is a combination of a couple of older techniques posted in the Tutorials thread. If I can work out the bugs, I'll post a tutorial for it. But, for now... RUNNING BATTLE (Part 6) Running now! Whew! Just barely got behind cover in time! Well, I've got a gun now too! Hiiiiiiii- -Yaaaaa! ... Ha? Errr... Where did he...? Fool. I shall take my time in crushing you.
Nice ka-boom. Though I still find it hard to get into the Animated aesthetic, I have to admit, Leader Megs looks fantastic.
That's a pretty good explosion effect. It's got little sprialy bits in the edges of the points which are a bit odd, but otherwise very nice! This really is a fun strip you got going on. Probably a great way to pass the time at work too...
If you only get one fig in the line, get him. He's absolutely menacing and just screams 'Megatron'. As far as the Animated aesthetic goes... it took me a while, and I'm still not completely sold on it. Certain figures, despite their excellent design and engineering (Such as Bulkhead) I just can't get into. But some of the directions its taking us I really like. Anything that steers us away from blocks with drilled holes for hands can't be ALL bad. (Ironically, Optimus and Megatron are probably the only two figures in the line who currently have blocks with drilled holes for hands ) It's certainly a different style. We've gotten so used to our Transformers being covered in greebles and surface detailing, and to have heads and faces that are a certain proportion, and Animated violated all of that with stylized faces, smooth, rounded surface details, and flatter colors. Basically, up until now Transformers have been striving towards the visual ideal set up by Dreamwave and IDW, and now they're going for something closer to Teen Titans or Justice League. It's not a BAD style... it's not even a new style, it's been with us since Batman: The Animated Series (Albeit in that series it was darker and more Dick Tracey-ish). We're just not used to it being applied to ROBOTS. But... here, I'll shut up now. Have some vanity shots of Megatron, sans effects:
Is it me or is he smiling in this photo? I can almost hear him say..."You WILL get my good side, won't you?!"
I still like classics Megatron the best, but this new animated Megsy takes a solid second place. Nice shots.
