Yeah, now that I see Swipe and New Prime chilling out together in perfect scale, I'm much happier about the re-booted Prime. I think this new scale for the G1 cast will make collecting and displaying the bots much easier, and hopefully keep the costs down.

I know, it's such a great face-sculpt. :D  They've really caught Swipe's devil-may care bravado in perfect detail. Honestly, he's one of the best TF toys out there right now IMHO. Pricy but so worth it.

Still working on the next update (need to re-shoot some stuff, and try something a bit different to improve the sets) but in the meantime I've updated the facebook page with the first in the series of extracts from a book written by Perceptor before he died, that chronicle the history of the Cybertronian race as it exists in the OOTDL universe.

Also: For the month of November I had a Moustache. I also had a cold. You'd be amazed how gross that combination can be....

The Transformers could be from another planet altogether according to Perceptor? I figured as much. They must be originally from Gobotron!

Coolhand, it amazes me how easily you write stuff! That excerpt from Perceptor sounds a lot like the opening to a Carl Sagan book, or a foreword by Steven Hawking. I totally forgot while I was reading it that it was just pulled out of thin air.
I love the extras that provide the backdrop for your saga. Can't wait for the update.

I enjoyed reading Perceptor's entry. Intriguing stuff :thumbs2:  Though I do wonder why he would reference archaeological data, then claim to be an empiricist. Much of the work in that field is based on strong inference, since one rarely has the opportunity to study direct evidence--usually, all you have is proxy data.

    Sorry--archaeology geek-out moment. I'm better now.

Hahahaha! I've worn a beard for around 20 years now. Trust me, I know your pain.

I don't know why I thought you had Soundwave all ready, apparently I can't read. But even though I knew Swipe was going to be too small it's still cool to see the comparisson pic, thanks!

    Arise Scootermus Prime!

Me Grimlock actually write this stuff. Coolhand just provide laptop and fresh Decepticons for me to eat.

Me Grimlock say: Coolhand indeed have excellent proctologist skills. Oh wait, Me Grimlock misread what you said...

Archaeology geek out moments are always welcome here! :)
What follows is a world-building geek out moment. Please skip unless you enjoy watching a writer disappear pretentiously up his own butt.

The basic answer is that Perceptor himself isn't an archeologist. His specialist as a scientist was much more in the subjects that could be investigated via the scientific method of experimentation and observation, but he he has a thirst for all aspects of knowledge, and that includes archeology.

The book Ancient Metal is Perceptor drawing on other texts and studies that were written by actual Cybertronian Historians and Archeologists to create his own work. The book is intented to be a quick and dirty guide to Cybertronian history for those utterly unfamiliar with it, so Perceptor is an interested observer looking at the existing work (which contains differing opinions and conclusions about some aspects of history) and trying to draw it together in a "this is the general state of the field right now" summery.

Perceptors attitude to history and archeology is basically a "this field of study isn't something that fits well with my method of enquiry, but I'm fascinated by what others who are more suited to it have uncovered or theorised" sort of thing. It why that first chapter is actually quite loathe to draw conclusions: The works Perceptor is drawing on DO draw definitive conclusions, but as they contradict and are working via inference and proxy data, Perceptor doesn't think any of them are definitive. He presents all of them, and leaves the reader to go forth and dig more if they are interested via the sources cited in the appendix and glossary at the back of the book.
See? Writer disappearing up his own butt. My apologies.

Latte froth in the tache? Lip-lickin' good! Fruit smoothie in the tache? Lip-lickin' good! The results of a runny nose in the tache? Gross-nausea bad!

Splendid geek-out stuff. Sometimes these "reply from the author" posts are as much fun as the comic itself!

BTW, is "archeology" the standard UK spelling?

Well, I have to admit I'm just now reading this and I really, really enjoy what I'm seeing. Especially the above. We don't have any random cannon mishaps but the conversation still sounds a lot like a few I've have at work. I'll try to mow through another 30 pages when I have some more time.

Sorry to hear about your novel. And yup, like you said, there are always opportunities out there. Good luck! Glad to hear your mother has positive recovery. All the best to her! And also, all the best to your RL too! :)

Just curious, I was watching the review for MP Soundwave and thought of you. I know you bought him, is he going to be the soundwave in the comic?

    Yo folks, welcome to 2013!
My New Years resolution is to update more often.....BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
    (sob)

Next update is coming soon. It's on the larger side because I can't think of a good place to cut it without ruining the flow.

    Thanks dude. :)

    Thank you. :)

Archeology is indeed the UK spelling, as far as I know.

I have considered it, but money is tight in Coolhand land, and since I have the older Thundercracker already I'm focusing on dudes I don't have. My priority is "Can I use it in the comic?" If I can't use it in the comic, it has to be awesome (basically an MP figure) for me to buy it.

In other words, if you see the new Thundercracker and Starscream molds pop up in the comic, you'll know I got a pay rise. :D

    Thanks Hicks_Royel. :)
Yeah some things never change in any workplace, be they an earthbound business venture staffed by humans, or an intergalactic outpost commanded by sentient transforming robots.

Thank you ZUDON, that's very kind, I'll pass your well wishes on :)

    Ooooooh....tricky.
See, the script for OOTDL is done. the story is pretty much set. I do have some wiggle room, and I can shuffle some things about, but I can go nuts with the changes or it'll screw with the arc of the overall tale.
If I include new people who were not around when the original script was done, I really want it to be enhance the story and have something meaningful for them to do. I added the MP coneheads because no-one really cares if Dirge, Thrust and Ramjet are just background dudes (They actually do have more to do than just background scenery, but they're certainly not going to be at the core of the story in the way Ravage, Jazz, Starscream or Silverstreak are) but someone like Soundwave, who is a huge character and deserves careful treatment, needs to be done properly and have a big part in the tale, or not done at all.

That doesn't mean he won't show up. It does mean I have to be happy that Soundwave fans will be happy.
