Wow. I didn't see this coming at all. Brilliant composition! I love and hate Mirage, so this is a very conflicted time. Great work.

Heheheh.. Yup.. I understand the trouble you have to face to get the bars right. I would've done the same - be lazy and ignore the correct alignment of the bars.

Anyhow, I'm now facing something similar, but I can't compare so easily because it's a totally different sort of FX.

Good luck though on your future updates with the bars!

Have you ever considered creating a frame out of wire or plastic to use as a point of reference for the bars?

I can see I need to go back and catch up on early Marvel comics then. I started reading somewhere when Ratbat was in charge, and never really went back and read earlier issues.

I’m taking my version from the G1 Toy bio, which describes him as a ruthless, cold-blooded, arrogant, sociopathic war machine. He’s a bit more unpredictable and a bit more useful for drama in that mode, I think. It’s nice to have guys like Sunny and Mirage around, as a foil for the more civil and well adjusted bots like Jazz, Prime and Hound.
True, and he's certainly interesting with that personality. I just hate seeing Autobots who are utter jerks, though there's value there for creating drama.

To pick an example from another show, it's kind of like Apollo on Battlestar Galactica, who's a pretty decent guy and doing generally heroic things over the course of the series even though he's fallible, and then suddenly one episode he's sleeping with a prostitute and pretending her daughter is almost his, and it just about killed the character for me. It just goes to show a character can only be stretched so far.

Not that I think you've stretched Sunstreaker too far or strayed from his character as depicted in tech specs and comics. Your portrayal is true to his description, albeit with your own interpretation of how he would act. I'm not faulting your writing at all, just commenting in general that I prefer Autobots to generally be a bit on the noble side and to generally have higher ideals and morals than Decepticons.

I wonder if it's that Sunstreaker is enjoying an opportunity to let the sociopathic part of his nature loose without feeling he's violating his Autobot sensibilities. I'm sure Prime or Prowl wouldn't see it that way, but Sunstreaker must have some of the same views as them to have joined the Autobots.

Just don't think they've done anything with them yet.

I'm not sure what happened to it; it's probably at my parent's house still.

The saber used in my comic was from Parks Sabers, Coolhand, years before they made electronics for them. I bought it in 1996, I believe. I'm too poor to buy the new ones, and besides, my plastic crack addiction costs enough

I make no apologies.
No apology required, Force FX lightsabre discussions are always welcome here!

I've actually got the build your own kit as well, and if you like that one, Sage O G, you'll LOVE the regular sabers. The kit has plastic hilts, whereas the regular ones are metal, far much more solid, have longer blades and a MUCH cooler lighting effect when they power up and down.

Starfire, you built your OWN? You sir, are a true Jedi! The Force FX ones are indeed rather expensive. It might not be worth shelling out for the entire line, but I do recommend putting aside the cash to get perhaps just one. Anakin and Obi-Wan's ROTS sabers are VERY nice indeed.

Frag yeah! I write Sunstreaker to be a bit more foul mouthed than a lot of Autobots, it seems to fit him somehow. And your line is indeed on the way

That's a VERY good idea, and will probably happen the next time I shoot photographs with this kind of FX in mind. (Ooh first post! Welcome to TFW2005. )

I think someone like G1 Toy Bio Sunstreaker is a good example of someone who ends up on the side of those fighting for freedom but who is not always a very good example of the principles he fights for. One can imagine the Autobots, outnumbered and outgunned, being very grateful on the one hand to have this cold-blooded killing machine tearing into the Decepticons and winning battles, and being very unsettled on the other hand by Sunstreaker's excesses and the uglier side of his personality.

So do you keep Sunstreaker on the payroll and take the risks associated with having a guy like that around, or get rid of him and take the risk that you've just made the war a little bit harder to win? It appears that Prime chose the former, and either managed to keep Sunny more or less in line or maybe never found out about some of the worst excesses. (Personally, I think it was probably a mixture of the two.)

But you can only keep someone like Sunny around for so long before something like this happens...

Re the spoiler, I totally agree with you, that episode was not very good at all and was something of a low point for the character. I can see what the writers were trying to do, but they missed the mark by quite a bit and the end result feels out of whack with the established character traits for that dude.

I don't know how far you've got with the show, but that character does recover as things progress, and has a moment in the last episode of season 3 that utterly redeems them IMHO. It's a crowning moment of awesome.

Sunny certainly feels that what he’s about to do is perfectly legitimate, even if Prime is “too fraggin’ up himself to admit it”, but it's indeed an interesting question: why did such a Decepticon-like bot join up with the good guys?

Good to hear. Thanks for the vagueness too. I've just finished the second season, so anything past that point would be spoiler territory.
