A thousand times yes! Huh, you're right. But perhaps like Prime and Megs, this Starscream is not completely like his G1 incarnation?
Well the way your characters are not exactly their stereotypes, then a should say quite a few surprises are in order.
I'm sorry I haven't gotten to post for so long. Your newest update was great! I really love how you're focusing on the Alternator and Masterpiece figures. It makes it very easy to hear the characters voices and emotions. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens, along with what Optimus plans to do!
Here's the latest update! For those who are wondering, I AM monkeying with the characterizations a little. Megatron, in all his cartoony glory, was always surprisingly honest about his motivations. He wants power, plain and simple. But real life villains are never so honest. They always cloak their motives in higher goals, greater purposes and sanctions from higher powers. This is primarily how they convince people to follow them and give them the power they want. For those of you who are curious, yes, Starscream is going to be different from his G1 incarnation. I'm trying to keep the basic character traits true, but strip away the cartoonyness... which is ironic for a photocomic about toys, but the irony is half the fun. And yes, that battlecry from Hot Rod is out of character. This will be touched upon later in an exchange between Strarf and Hot Rod.
Whoah, this is maybe one of the most obsessive and fanatical incarnations of Megatron I've seen. Only one other tops this guy and that's Beast Machines Megatron. Also, that was rather well executed on how exactly the Decepticons retreated at such a good moment and Shockwave seen as not a wuss (well, he's just way loyal and thinking of his leader's wellbeing as first priority)... well, this action at least had reasons. XD But still, he did make sure his orders are followed, though.
Your special effects really are incredible. I'm also enjoying the characterization everyone is getting! Your version of Megatron really is something of a maniac isn't he? I have to wonder how long until the owner finds out what happened! I also like the way you portrayed Shockwave, especially with your choice of words. I like your attention to the characters speech patterns; for example, withdraw seems far more natural a word choice for Shockwave to say than retreat. As always, I continue to look forward to seeing what will happen next!
Hello? BW Megatron? The fandom called. Masterpiece Megatron wants that "I'm the best Megatron" crown back.
Heh, thanks! I have a lot of fun with Megatron, though I have to admit to shamelessly stealing from historical sources for his speeches. Basically half of them are from outside sources, paraphrased and altered to fit the circumstance, and half are my own. I'm going to wean myself off that now that I've got his 'voice' nailed down a little better. Shockwave, Starscream and Scourge (Nemesis Prime) are all going to be a lot of fun too. I wanted to avoid the whole 'Megatron has fallen! I, Starscream am now your new leader! Decepticons Retreat!' nonsense... suffice it to say that Starscream will NEVER utter those words. In fact, I think Starscream fans should like my take on him. Some characters are still developing in my head, and will grow to have their own distinct 'voices' as the comic continues, but many already have theirs. Hot Rod and Strarf, naturally, Scourge, Starscream, Megatron, Divebomb (Though we haven't got to hear it yet), Tantrum, Smokescreen... these will be the chars I do the tech cards for first.
A very nice wrap-up to the flashback. And I'm really liking this Megatron. He really is a nasty piece of work. Definitely a fan of that guy.
Pretty savage stuff there, would've been interesting to see if the rally had succeeded if Shockwave had'nt called off the fighting...
Zowie ka-blowie! So I guess the Owner must be quite a frustrated guy. "Damn, where's that Autobot I picked up from the store yesterday? I could have sworn I left him on the shelf. Aw man, don't tell the dog's eaten ANOTHER one..."
Once again, great FX filled update Pol! Hot Rod's battecry was from...First Contact? And wow, Scourge seems unwaveringly calm in the face of a tide turned (imagines Keith David's voice for Scourge). Shockwave, on the other hand, seems to have a bias in his logic circuits when it comes to his glorious leader. As for Megatron's public address. Wow, absolutely brilliant. Crazy as his motivations are, it actually makes perfect sense (as far as being a megalomaniacal toy goes at least). Can't wait to hear what the Shinkis have to say about that piece of history!
Hmm, I wonder what happened to Jazz? We saw him at the truce sequence, he wasn't introduced to the Shinkies, but we didn't see him die in the battle...
Haven't seen either series, but man, anyone choosin' such colors on himself either knows what he wants or then he can't be totally right in his head... XD
His absence will be explained. I wasn't able to squeeze him into the whole battle chaos, but his fate will be revealed. Scourge is definitely one of my favourites. Most people take the Nemesis Prime character and make him a badass loner. Well, mine is an effective battlefield commander... a fact that has netted him some greater authority in the present (And by the same token, Shockwave's reaction has lost him some). I'll be glad to getting back to the Shinkis, and the present day. The girls have been getting impatient with me. Plus I've still got so far to go before I can introduce Eukrante, and she's kinda brandishing that sword at me menacingly...
Megatron's ranting is just hilarious because it's all about a toy collection... inarticulate past, and cancerous poorly chosen present purchases... that's funny stuff. And divine sanction for all his actions because the owner agrees... you're close to inspired writing here. I have to say... I have a pretty good idea what's in my collection. I'm not sure hiding losses from me would be easy. But maybe the owner just trusts Megatron.
Well, no, but what if you suffered a huge initial loss to your collection when you moved, due to shipping problems? And then you kept on having problems when things were shipped to your home? Granted, that's not going to work forever.
