That will be covered in future editions. The Shinkis will naturally ask that question themselves. Yes. Movie Megatron Classics Megatron Cybertron Megatron Energon Megatron Armada Megatron G1 Megatron... He killed them all. They were inferior versions of himself. What's more, they could have become a threat. They needed to go.
Now THAT is my kind of thinking! I had a similar plan to rid the world of stupidity, but it was more along the lines of one of G1 Megs' plans, and therefore destined to fail. Hehehe, pseudo-suicide. And genocide, man, he's determined. I'm tempted to do a panel edit with him having a swastika or a Hitler mustache or something...
Good dialogue with Megatron. Highly important with a character like his. You pulled it off nicely--I tended to enjoy his response to Prime more than the fighting.
...dayum... Though that does conveniently limit the cast of the comic to these few. 'Nother great update, Pole! (Can I call you Pole? Or perhaps Poley? Nicus?) Megatron and the rest of the 'Cons here seems to have a "survival of the fittest" mentality. And was Hot Rod actually hanging off the door knob in the third panel there? Awesome shot either way.
I usually go by Pol. Thanks! You have NO idea how long it too me to get him to stay there long enough to take that shot. What's worse, he was right above Smokescreen and Streak... and when he fell he wiped out their carefully arranged poses >< Thankfully, that mold is probably the most poseable and flexible of all the Alternators. I don't think I could have managed that with any other.
I think this comic has done something to my brain. Namely, it's making me want to buy things I normally wouldn't want to buy, because in a fit of inspiration, my brain creates characterizations for them in the context of this comic. Take Tigris and Vitulus for example. Initially they didn't interest me at all. Then, something kinda went *SPLORT* in my brain, and suddenly I had a plotline surrounding them, as well as characterizations, motivations and relationships with other main characters. Now I'm ordering them off HLJ as we speak. It happened again today when I was perusing the local Toys R Us. i won't say which toy, but it was one I initially wasn't interested in in the slightest. I picked him up, looked him in the eye, and suddenly he wasn't a toy anymore. He was a CHARACTER. DAMNIT. Now I'm struggling to see if I can wait for him to maybe go on clearance, and take the risk of losing him and this new character forever, or biting the bullet and buying him. So much for my budget. Do any of you other comic creators have this problem? I know other people's comics make people buy things (Like Shinkis. Dila is single-handedly responsible for starting the chain reaction that inextricably linked Transformers and Shinkis in fandom. Or Megabolt. Who would want a Megabolt if it wasn't for Shane? Or Cobalt Agent. DAMN YOU you made me get a G2 Laser Optimus!) But has your own comic ever made you buy stuff you normally wouldn't? On the bright side... since most movie toys and the animated toys don't interest me, at least my net purchases aren't any worse.
I ended up giving a figure that doesn't have much significance a starring roll in my comic... Does that count?
pretty much every item i own of re ment is because of wanting something for them to interact with, and yes, i have bought toys because i look them in the eye and suddenly see a little personality inside them. i think that is the nature of being creative, though. when i am buying fabric to sew into plush dolls i actually can see what i am going to make in my mind as i buy it, and sometimes the fabric is what inspires the idea. can't wait to see you join the shinki cult as well!
Oh, I am a member of the cult. Here's my card: I just can't use it in my sig AND the one for Warring at Play. I'll probably swap them if/when I feel I've drummed up more interest in the comic.
An interesting topic of discussion you've brought up here, one that caused me to make a few trips down memory lane (not very far down though). Long story short: Yes, my toy collecting hobby very quickly turned a photocomic making hobby. Almost all toy purchases made in the last 8 months were done so with the comic in mind. But being very character centric to begin with, I've always viewed toys as either homages to well known characters, or an empty shell, waiting to be given a personality. Making photocomics now just makes me try to find a role for the toy in the comic.
Half the time I want a Transformer it's because the bio appeals to me in some way. The other half of the time it's because it pushes some nostalgia button and I have to have it. It's very rare that I just think "that guy's cool" and pick it up. But I get where you're coming from. Actually, I can think of several instances where I bought a new Transformer and thought "I can use x in the comic!" and that was the clincher for me.
If he killed them all... Oh shit... he's going to go through a huge fuckin' time paradox... and a bad stomache ache...
Nah, they're TOYS, remember? They were technically separate and distinct from him... though very much kin. Of course, that similarity was part of the reason they needed to go. After all, if you were a genocidal megalomaniac, could you tolerate another 'you' running around? I've got plans to cover all this stuff in-story, of course. What Masterpiece Megatron is doing is REALLY messed up.
