Hey everyone, I ran as a joke candidate this year at my university's students' union elections as, guess who, Soundwave. It was pretty funny, and I managed to get it filmed and posted on youtube. If you're bored, or just want to have a laugh, or if you dig politics/election debates... or even want to check out yet another Transformer costume, watch this! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6klaUw997Qo -Sarah
I saw that poster! It was sweet! I heard about the speech - good to see it was taped. I'm glad I managed to snag one of the posters for my room. EDIT: We need to plan something like running Megatron for next year. Or my other idea - run a combiner, with each limb for a different position. EDIT 2: My only criticism is that Soundwave is too articulate for Soundwave.
I'll give a bit more background for your benefit, being a U of A student myself. In our student union elections, it's a common thing to run joke candidates. In fact, said candidates even get FUNDING from SU! Soundwave was run in a category where there was only one flesh creature running for the position. As such, the fleshie automatically won. Sadly, joke candidates aren't allowed to win - they put that rule on the books after one almost DID win several years back (so I understand- a comic character called Space Moose, I believe). Though they make it more fun. Another non-organic being running was Ursa-Minor (a robot, I can't remember which student group built it offhand). EDIT: Found a copy of the poster on the student paper's website.
Actually, joke candidates CAN win, but then that position would be moved to a by-election. I was TERRIFIED that I was actually going to win, but I am so glad that I didn't. Dollanksy did an amazing job though on his part, so he deserved it.
Bravo! Bravo! Absolutely brilliant. No one in my parts is going to have the balls to do that even in centuries to come.
i saw a vid recently of this realy cute blond chick building a soundwave costume with a tape door that open and like all this detail it was cool
