Who here would be willing to work on a big project with me? I was thinking of using the toys to tell the stories we grew up with. Cartoons, the movie, even the comics (The Transformers Are All Dead!!!).

To recreate cartoon/comic moments using the toys.

Interesting idea. I would recommend buying gloves for it, though. The Human hands are kinda...creepy.

Sounds awfully ambitious. I mean just doing the movie would be a massive undertaking not to mention not only doing all the comics but having some one with ALL the comics to refinance from. Have you worked out how to recreate all the back grounds? Or how to keep the look of it all consistent with multiple people working on it?

    I would have to agree.

Sorry if I’m raining to hard on your parade.

I'm with Buzzbeak... as awesome as it sounds, it also sounds like... a bit too ambitious.

But... well, look at Obsidian's Lament. Just because it's ambitious, doesn't mean it isn't possible. I can't personally help you, but if you think you can do it, I'd love to see it!

    Is it that far off?

    Exactly! :thumb

If Shane isn't up to it, I'd have no problem with backgrounds. Space is just space, Cybertron is the same whether it's organic or not- repeating patterns of metal or plants. It'd take a little time to make backgrounds (for me anyway), but it's not impossible.

As I said, I'm happy to give it a shot. I need to finish up my current project first though. I don't have time for two stories and a comic thread. :)

It might also be useful to try some short stories first to see how the idea pans out. Something that doesn't require a long commitment to finish. Maybe a backup story from one of the comics?

Well, see, I NEVER liked the human-like art in the latter comics. I also didn't care for the human flexi-expressions in the face, which was part of the same concept.

So while you would have a reference to it (and argueable reasoning for using human hands) I tend to think gloved hands might work better. But do understand, that's only my opinion.

I do hope to see some progress on this kind of a project. A comic redo would be especially interesting. If you did a comic, would you remake it panel-for-panel? (angles, poses, etc.)

I'll definately take that into consideration. I just always thought that a project like this would be cooler with articulated fingers. For some reason, seeing the toys on a webcomic with separate fingers just makes them seem all the more real to me.

I'll get back to you on your other point.

I totally agree with you on the flexible fingers. I guess it's more a debate about the look of their hands than anything.

Maybe if you had some hockey gloves it would look more robotic.

I'll help. I have all of G1 on DVD and quite a few TF comics if you need reference material. PM me if interested.

How about this as an idea: build a set of "robot hands" out of a set of cleaning gloves and some posterboard or bristol board. Use the board to make blocky "robotic" fingers and glue/tape/staple them to the gloves underneath. Photoshop can alter the color and erase pesky staples or tape, and bingo: flexible hands that don't look human.

That's pretty much accurate if the G1 series were all going to be remade into either a stop animation cartoon or live action series.
