Of course, giving aid to a fallen combatant isn't really an act of war (although in a world of robots that can be patched up and immediately returned to combat, maybe it would be). Shooting it out with the attackers probably is.

Still, that's something a good diplomat should be able to smooth over in no time. And...in the TF universe, there's only one diplomat that I know of (one of the Megabolt moldings), and the Cons have him. Oopsie.

Roadflare, being an Autobot, was giving aid to the Decepticon's enemies. To any 'con (Megatron especially), that would mean that the Autobots have formed some sort of alliance with the Gundam. They're going to need all their diplomatic muscle if the 'bots want to stay neutral; otherwise, they're now involved in the war, and the Decepticons now have every right to start attacking Autobots.

True. Of course, if you're fighting a war of attrition against a smaller enemy, and doing fairly well, you don't necessarily want to tilt the balance against yourself by declaring war on an additional, much larger enemy, although some harassment (smoothed over and excused by the diplomats, aided by the Autobots' desire to remain neutral) would seem in order to make sure they stay out of your business.

I suppose it depends on how cra-a-azy the Con leadership is.

Actually, he was a lousy shot. There are all those other blasts that totally missed. Pegging the little guy was total luck. Though, at least, he kept his aim in the same general direction.
