Very cool. Thank you for the tips. Did you use a brush for the black painted sections?

I've been soaking my Jetfire pieces in SuperClean for about 30 hours and it's almost completely clean of chrome. I didn't use any denatured alcohol. Just the SuperClean and it worked great. Found it in the automotive section of Walmart. Here's my question: Does anyone know how to remove the chrome off his gun? The gun has a metal spring inside, so I don't want it to corrode. Has anyone tried anything?

The gun can be dismantled, start by removing the screw/s and slowly pry apart starting at the back. you may need a dab of superglue if any of the small pegs break.

Yeah, I got him for £20. I passed on him at £25 but just had to get him when he dropped even further in price.

He looks decent enough but he's tiny for a leader toy. Aren't old Ultra class toys the same size as him? I compared him to Ultra Silverbolt and they are the same head height, but Silverbolt lacks the bulk that Jetfire has.

Oh well. I can't complain after getting him for less than a Voyager. But I won't be buying any of the seeker remolds unless they are about the same cost.

Pretty funny that this thread showed up currently, as I FINALLY got my own Jetfire in the mail today. I really love his size and look, and he will round out my Season 1 Autobots along with the Dinobots. All that is needed is a decent Huffer, Cliffjumper and Gears Legends and I can finally be done with collecting Autobots (Unless they sculpt a better Trailbreaker...).

My Decepticons are a different matter, however...

What are you missing in the season 1 Decepticons? They’ve all had multiple treatments over the years. You can even get them all in cybertronian form thanks to the WFC/FOC toyline.

Uhm, Reflector for starters.... oh and a good Shockwave. And no, to me, that POS FOC one doesn't count.

Reflector and Shockwave aren’t part of the 1984 release so I usually don’t count them.

Shockwave has a pretty kick ass legend class in Combiner Wars, but yeah, he really needs a CHUG style Voyager.

Well, its more that my Decepticon collection is all across the board. I have all the deluxe seekers (even the S2 Coneheads) save for Skywarp. No Soundwave, except his WFC version. I have both Generations and Combiner Wars Megatron. All of the Insecticons. A Ravage from the Hound figure. A Straxus figure. The Stunticons. TR Galvatron, Generations Cyclonus and Scourge (both versions). TR Skullcruncher

So it's a pretty varied and unfocused. Plus, I have a bunch of random figures I want to unload.

Agreed... the CW Legend Shockswave is completely awesome! Now if they'ed only make a voyager (or deluxe, at worst), I'd be happy!

I really need him to be Leader as he is exactly the same height as Soundwave in multiple media... But SO many people clamor for a Voyager I feel like that is going to be what we end up getting when it happens... I just hope it isn't in an expensive exclusive since so many people want him it will guarantee a certain number of units of that exclusive ( likely an expensixe 3 digit price box set)... but yeah Shockie, badly needed.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't argue with a LC version. Just figured that considering the injustice of updated figures he's gotten thus far (FOC, bleh) and the Legend (still totally solid, but far too small), I would hope for AT LEAST a decent voyager, if not leader!

Anyone having any yellowing issues with this guy now? Mine seems to be slightly discolored in places.

Nope. I originally thought mine was yellowing, but then I realized it's a cream color to begin with. Some of the joints just seem yellowed because they're more creamy colored than other parts. Jetfire was never a bright white figure to begin with.

So I'm trying to fix my son's Transformers Generation Jetfire - specifically the cockpit section. But even after removing all the screws I could find I still can't split it open. It seems to want to come apart everywhere except the forward most section (pic 1 below). I thought it might be the Autobot logo holding it together but that looks like it's painted, and not a sticker so I'm assuming that's not the problem. Then I thought it was the rubber nose cone but that looks like it's held on by a ring that wraps around the screw channel (pic 2 below). So I discounted that too. Has anyone done this? Is there some secret to separating it?

PS: Apologies to TPTB if this is posted in the wrong section. I looked for but couldn't find a subforum called "Dumb Dad Can't Fix Toy". Feel free to move it to where it belongs. :)

It's probably just glued together at the end.

I'm a year late to this party but I just finished disassembling this guy and it is indeed glued together
