It's not ROTF Leader Optimus - It's the smaller HFTD size Voyager Prime.

Thanks! I never owned the voyager mold so I didn't know it looked that good! Serves me right for glancing at the picture! X)

So... I bought the Hasbro version today and just ordered the Takara after looking at three of these pics. Yep, this figure rocks and I am more than willing to pay extra for the incredible paint apps.

I'm happier with my _painted_ Hasbro version for these reasons but I get that some/many aren't into painting figs.

I just got mine today and while I was very excited to get it, I'm left feeling sort of indifferent. The painted rims are the best part to me, but that's one of the few things I can do well enough myself. The rest is kind of a wash between this and Hasbro's. In person I'm finding I like the blue hands and feet of Hasbro's better, but I like the painted eyes of Takara's better, but I don't like the extra silver on the face that Takara's has...but I like Takara's painted shoulder parts better, but I don't like the grey feet and ladders in alt mode, etc.

One thing interesting on Takara's is the windows align almost perfectly on Takara's where Hasbro's required modification to get them aligned.

I am curious. What modifications needed to be made on the Hasbro version to get the windows to align properly? It is one of the few things that bug on me on this beautiful figure.

Seems to be something of a tolerance issue. I notice that the windows line up perfectly if you push the grill in a tiny bit, but it doesn't hold, with the grill springing back ever so slightly on its own. So probably something to do with lightly sanding the area behind the grill to remove whatever's interfering. It's not much, whatever it is.

To further pick that nit, G1 Optimus Prime is still "Convoy".
    r_mp-10-convoy-004.jpg

Ditto pre-existing Convoys up to around 2007.

But new Optimus Primes from the Movies onwards (Movie, Animated, Prime) have been "Optimus Prime", and are no longer referred to as "Convoy" anymore. So yeah, this thread is misnamed.

And this guy literally has "Optimus Prime" written all over.
