I already do that with the arm that can rotate a bit. Holding the shoulder doesn't help for the arm that can't. I've tried it once or twice earlier this week. I'm not exaggerating when I said that the right bicep swivel won't budge. The only area that feels like it could move is that teeny shaft region between the ratchety elbow bit and that first circular portion in the upper arm. But it's not a "I want to rotate" feel. It's more of a "I'm going to snap if you twist just a bit harder" I know that probably made little sense and pictures would be helpful but my camera died. I'll post a photo when my dinosaur camera finishes charging.
Oh ok, I gotcha. I had read more as you didn't even want to try, not that you had and it won't rotate.
I had that problem too. Popped the forearm out at the mushroom peg (where it swivels) and went around it with sandpaper for a minute or two. Worked like a charm.
Glad I finally have a Rattrap after all these years. Didn't have much love for the on-show character, but for some reason was always interested in the old Beast Wars toy. Rat mode is very nice, and as far as I know the first Transformer with a wireframe tail? Smart that they added an extra panel underneath the head, so you can turn his head downwards without leaving a hole in his neck (and you can use it as a hood in robot mode ). Robot mode...does the job, but can't help but feel there's a bit too much backpack panels, and a slightly too convoluted (?) transformation. The panels are all really thin as well. Bonus points for having bombs...I mean 'binoculars'. Perfectly fine toy, but nothing earth-shattering.
Got him today. finally Although my biggest nitpicks really is that he's tight in some spots and seem really delicate in other spots.
This really is a fantastic figure. The look is really perfect. I gave his "fur" a black ink paint wash and he looks like a pretty realistic rat from a distance. I even scared my gf's roommate by leaving him around her house hehe All I have is nitpicks really. He's great.
Is this figure supposed to have rather ominous and glaring stress marks on its thumbs? After reviewing several preceding posts, I see that it is. This figure's plastic is so thin it honestly does feel like a cheaply-produced knockoff--I'd hate to bring up such a platitude, but I can't avoid it. Rattrap has a clever design, so I'm sincerely dismayed over this. Thankfully, Tankor's plastic is sturdier and weightier.
Of all of the figures that I got in 2014 (and Jesus Herbert Walker Christ, there were a ton), I think I spent the most time with Rattrap...and I don't quite know why. I just can't put the guy down. I believe that Rattrap is a glowing example of what a shell former can be. Yes, he has the requisite "fold up robot bits just so, clip shell together" transformation but he does it in the most enjoyable fashion possible. The arrangement of the bits is FUN, the shell is sturdy and strong, he's not frustrating (like Big Convoy, for example)... The fact that The rat mode pieces (like the head and front legs) are used as important visual interest in the robot mode break the toy away from being the "bad" kind of shell former where the complete robot could be formed without the shell bits. There have been some serious gems coming from our favorite toy line in the past months...Rattrap was my favorite.
Agree with everything you said, other than the Big Convoy shell being frustrating.. IMO Bif C is one of the best TF figures ever certainly one of my favorites.. and I wouldn't have tried to get him if it weren't for ol' Rattrap
Fair enough. I also love Big Convoy but eventhough I've had the thing for over 15 years (!) I still don't know how to get it back into Mammoth mode without looking at the directions. EDIT: That's 15 years... fixed.
ahh rattrap, such an interesting figure, riddled with QC issues, none that i ran into when owning back in 2014, and still havent..(starting to think my bad luck with devastator was the universe correcting itself), painted the top of his dome silver and the back of it in silver and holy scrap he has some nice molding
Was so happy when this was made. Had been wanting a bigger version of Rattrap's first look since I was a kid. Then and now:
I just managed to buy a rat trap new in box. I got two with cracked right legs right at the front of the shin. Is there a way to pop the pin without damaging it before I even transform him so that I can file this thing down and relieve the pressure?
