just got 'im! yay! ive been looking fwd to the sucker despite the gimpy design due to 1- doctah jones! 2- awesome bio, and he does not dissapoint. great colors, cool alt mode. the arms, you either like it or hate it. its kinda cool in a aliens (alien 2) exo suit grabber claw kinda way, but after studying it, i find that the feature was avoidable, so the effect was definitely intended. one thing that bugged me - the head falls back into alt mode position too easily when handling. and you gotta have dexterity to pull the sucker out in the 1st place (edit: when you click the pelvis in place the head pops out. doh.). verdict? awkward, goofy cool. kinda like saidos and his snaggletooth grin.
Shortround is awesome in a strange, wonky way. A major improvement would have been to do the arms differently so the elbow could swivel and twist at the same time...he looks like he's trying to master his 'gangsta pose' when shooting his gun...glock glock! But overall it's a cool little (emphasis on LITTLE, the guy is tiny!) TF, with cool colors...and is worth the price of a basic just to have a creepy little lobsterlike hoverboat in the Decepticon ranks... Shortround gets a B from me...but I'm being nice, those arms really should give it a C+/ B-
At first, the arms kinda bothered me as well, but if you look at his face and think of the arms as some sort of manipulators for a diving suit, then it's not so bad. Or there's the lobster angle, continuing with the underwater creature theme. I'm really fond of his alt mode, though.
He's a cool little figure. I like the hoovercraft mode and all the little details and paint aps. Robot mode is pretty interesting but I wish his arms were more poseable. I like his head sculpt, although it strikes me odd that Hasbro can put 3 different paint colors on such a small basic's head, yet only put one color on Soundwave's head.
Yeah the arms have grown on me too over the past day fiddling with him...and I agree the alt mode is pure awesomeness Ok, that right there just added points to him
I just got this guy today.. He kicks ASS!! I love him to death. A+ for me.. Geeze. I go for weeks not seeing anything. Buy a few things to give myself a fix (Marvel Figure Factory, Older figs i had passed on, etc) Then Last week or so I find Soundwave. Then Nothing til tuesday. I find a TON of new MLs., Yesturday I find Alt Prime and another ML i need. Also see Cannonbal and the Thundercracker Repaint but pass for now. Today I find Shortround.. What is next? Finding Primus tommorow? Most likely findign the last two MLs i need for giant man.. When it rains it pours...
I love the little guy... Minus his damned elbows... The way his arms bend almost reminds me of the way Mr. Burns lets his hands dangle...
was pleased to pick up this little guy today, wasn't expecting to find him so fast... Here you have it. Color Scheme & Sculpt Very original little guy. His colors in my opinion are awesome! Purple, a dull white, dark gray, some gold, and a "strange" light blue. It's quite bright... can't find another TF with something like it. They all work together really well surprisingly though. His sculpt is also quite unique... alot of little details all over the place. His arms are VERY long, longer then Cybertron Crumplezones, they almost reach the floor... and instead of hands he has from his elbows onward lobster/shrimp claws. VERY strange... but cool. Articulation He's got ball joint thighs, so foward/backward he can rotate pretty far... to the side he goes only out about 15 degrees though. His knees bend completely and his toes move downwards, both thanks to his transformation. Head is on a balljoint, it's good... ball joints also are on his shoulders but are limited just like the thighs... good foward movement, not so hot to the sides. Elbows are strange... they rotate a full 360, but only bend in one direction, which is oddly away from the body. In other words, he can curtsy like a dancer The inside of the claw moves foward and backwards too. Gives the illusion of an open or closed claw. Overall, it's not too bad... you can get some fun poses. He balances fairly well. Features He's a fun hovercraft and he works kinda simple. Insert the Cyberkey and from his backpack/rear of hovercraft two gold turbine/missle thingys flip out. He rolls in Alt mode too. And that's really about it. No light pipe eyes... no shooting missles. He comes with a gun... it attaches strangely to the back of his inside claw ((imagine holding a gun with the joint at the base of your thumb if your making believe your hands are claws)) it doesn't reach out past the claw which is weird. Quibbles Namely in the arms. Had they moved foward away from his body instead of to the outside of his hips they'd be cool. Also the way the gun is held is just bizarre. It'd be nice if the pincers opened instead of just slid foward too. Pretty much, the quibble is that he has lobster/shrimp claws ((which is cool)) but that they don't work like claws. Had they worked like Tidal Wave or Omega Sentinels claws they'd be great. It takes a bit to get used to how they are... but once you do, they're fun. Overall His colors and alt mode are undeniably cool. His robot mode is cool too in that it is very strange and unique. He'll stand out well when you display 'em and he's fun to tinker around with. Depending on what you look for in a TF he's recommended
I haven't picked him up yet, but from what I've seen, I think this guy is shaping up to be one of my favourite TFs ever. Granted, I've always been the kinda fan to like the underdogs of the TF universe (Cybertron Dirt Boss is my favourite of the line so far, how many other people can say that?). Shortround has really struck a chord with me. The Hasbro exclusive designs have been amazing thus far (Downshift, Armorhide, Hardtop... Mini-Unicron!) and Shortround is no exception. He seems like the sort of TF I would design myself: aquatic alt mode, shades of blue, white (gray-ish) and black, and a unique looking bot mode that is different (see Undermine)without being lame (see Backstop). As some of you may know, I'm also a sucker for the old school Seacons, and Shortround's Piranacon-like head scores big points for me. Surprisingly, it's his colour scheme I like most about him, but the mold is, in general, pretty kickass. Add the fact that he's a Decepticon (with a pretty clever bio to boot) and he jumps to the top of my list of favourite (as well as "most wanted") Transformers in recent years!
Yanno, at first sight, I thought the arms were ugly and just a large dose of too much. But I picked the guy up on a whim, and I'm now really fond of him. He's definately now one of my favorite basics. He can even make fun of Energon Ironhide! Bonus points! Solid A grade toy.
Very nice basic, I think, but I also happen to enjoy many figures with wonky proportions (BM Scavenger is one of my all time favorites). Had they left the arms as scoops it would have sucked a bit, but making them crab-claws was a great idea.
He is amazing. I really like some of the more "weird" looking designs cybertron has given birth to, such as Undermine's weird head and this guys lobster claws. Shortround is a nice compact little guy. His giimik is awsome, I really like shoulder cannons so that earns shortround a few extra points. My only negative point is that the toy is a little underpainted. Sure I likr the paint scheme but there are so many detailed areas just left inpainted, making the figure look plain. I give this awsome little guy a B+
Cool figure. One of the best Cybertron scouts. I actually don't mind the claw arms. Makes him different.
