Walked into Toys R Us Powerplant Mall on a whim yesterday after getting a haircut and spotted this little fella! Transformers Generations IDW Tailgate (and Groundbuster but who cares about him…)



I’ve been quite addicted to the IDW series of “More Than Meets the Eye” lately and I have to admit it is the BEST Transformers comics series yet – coming from a longterm fan. James Roberts (the writer) is an absolute legend. Also love Alex Milne’s art, very “Anime” and Transformers at the same time.



Matches the comic design quite well!




Hmm, I wonder what he transforms into? I guess you can't get away with car transformers carrying the car on their back sometimes lol



Throwaway target master weapon thingy. Not accurate to the comics so people probably won’t care about it.



Sports car mode. No, not cybertronian like the comic unforunately.

With Targetmaster partner in “robot” mode, Groundbuster. Yes, you just sort of sit the tank up on its butt.



Lay it down flat and you get bulldozer mode. It pretty much transforms like a Matchbox car!



He does make a good Driver for Fansproject Revolver (Roadbuster)?

Not like Rodimus is some hero in the comic though! I actually find him pretty useless.

How's his head articulation?

 

I'm curious about head articulation as well. He definitely looks decent enough, any chance of some pictures of the target masters other modes?

 

Ugh they used THAT art for his package? I suppose I throw it away anyway but still doesnt look anything like the cutey. Either way super excited for this little guy.

His head can turn left and right, but the back kibble gets in the way.

You can however half transform the hood , turn the head, then put the hood back...

 

the fact that his head turns just put this even higher on my want list. I understand it on a legion class toy, but it drives me nuts when they leave that point of articulation off figures this size

 

Not bad, and I looove MTMTE, but not as high on my want list as Swere or Cosmos (who I have pre-ordered). If I see him at some point I will pick him up.

 

He looks really darn awesome.

Unfortunately not as perfect as Swerve, likely because of the Alt-Mode choice, but really adorable. He clearly is MTMTE Tailgate and I can't wait for him because of it.

I want Tailgate as much as the next guy, but I can't help but feel: his head is a bit small and narrow, he totally loses the cute vibe he has in the comics. He actually looks a bit more 'grown up' or something.

Not as perfect as Swerve, but still cool.  

 

I did not expect the head to turn.

This is even more of a deffinite purchase than before.

 

Why does the packaging art look so much like TFP Ratchet?

 

he comes with it? nice. it fits him. all we need now is his My first blaster.

 

I kinda hope that I can take off the flames.

It kinda fits with season 1 Tailgate "trying" too hard to be a badass to fit, but still doesn't fit the character IMO.

Not a deal breaker by any means it's still amazing as hell!

(also that Hulkgate for the art will never NOT be hilarious.)

 

The same company who made that not-Swerve actually offers a separate MFB, as well! (And the toy itself comes with the Shoomer!)      

 

I think the flames are a strange attempt to nod towards Prime Tailgate. It just is completely unwanted on MTMTE Tailgate.
