Fun little toy. The back is bit messy in truck mode with the arms and chest plate exposed, but the robot mode is decent and more poseable than anticipated (arms + head). Cool that the hands are also compatible with 5mm pegs.

 

Not too bad, I would only get this on sale and because I collect Prime.

That actually looks GREAT. I can see picking these up to play with my son. To have DECENT..now Cmon guys..these are DECENT bot modes, and alt modes..with ONE step TF mation?!?!

Hasbro should put out a full page flyer in the coupon mailers, for "$7 off TRY ME you kid will love it" to get these in kids hands..The drift one I seen looks the worst, but hell Optimus didn't look that great until I seen these pics..

I KNOW my son and me will play with these BIG time.

You guys need to do Video reviews..even if its just a short Iphone vid..upload it so we can see these 1 steppers in action..

Whoah, these are only slightly bigger than Activators? Somehow I had the idea these would be more like the FABs in size. Meh!

(Which reminds me...Fast Action Battlers already WERE the simplified toys Hasbro wanted, and I'm not sure they sold that great...)

Yeah but those were chibified versions.

 

Probably because they were too big and too expensive.

So they shrunk them down to activator size.

Actually I thought these looked totally uncool until I saw they're that small. Makes the details more crisp.

I was looking at my One Step Optimus when I realised that mechanically he's actually the same as Animated Activators Ratchet, just inverted in robot mode. I'll take a quick pic to illustrate what I'm talking about.

 

Cannot ask too much from this type of toy, but seeing those arms and fists sticking out in vehicle mode, plain sight, still feels weird. I mean take Animated Activators for example, Ratchet, Bumblebee, maybe also Prime, etc, at least hides the arms and fists.
