Usually don't do leaders, but may have to on Grimmy. ;)

    Getting the prime...
But can talk myself into this one. If his robot mode had even one hint or nod at the original figure I'd get it. As is, yes it's a cool Dino and cool robot. But I don't get any Grimlock character vibe from it. Bummer

Thanks for the photos. This is the most wanted figure in TF4 line.

How the arms are formed is pretty off-putting for a voyager. I guess I'll settle for a leader class then.

The chunk of dino legs on the side of his robot hands puts me off . If he' a deluxe then I would totally understand, but as a voyager..... sigh.

Thanks for the great review! However, I'll be buying the Leader for Grimlock.

Ok, I'm used to kibble hanging off of arms, and I'm not a big complainer of such kibble either... But damn if I've ever seen such overt kibble hanging off of a robots FISTS. Jesus, that's the best they could do there?

Thanks for the pics and review, OP! Your pics are great... but kind of ruin the box marketing. I mean, from your pics, I can now see they really did some picture magic to make Grimmy look so perfect in those shots (I imagine, from what you said, that the legs come apart easily and things don't snap well together - which I believe due to experience with other disastrous Hasbro releases).

I'm thinking total pass on this one. Rather, to openly admit hypocrisy, he's one of these toys I'll probably EVENTUALLY get around to owning... once the discounts and coupons come pouring in. Definitely don't care about owning him for sure, though, so I'll take my discount chances. I hope the Leader one is better, like you said... but the alt mode on that guy looked atrocious from the pics, so...

Maybe it's cause Bay has TMNT on the brain? I mean, assuming Bay had final design approval and/or directed the concept artists in some way, it's entirely possible that he either consciously (or subconsciously) directed Grimlock to look like Shredder. Maybe it's a conscious, hidden link between the films (his own personal mark)? Or maybe he's just a big fan of the Shredder design, and wanted to use it elsewhere in his work.

I agree. I noticed the weirdness in the dino's back right away. I just expected everything to lock in more neatly. I have Neo BW Convoy sitting in front of me. He's a friggin' mammoth with virtually zero alt-mode articulation. But you know what? I love that he looks uniform and that his parts lock neatly together under a layer of robo skin.

    Needs more skin bell.:bay

    Is this true?

I mean it hardly seems fair when these guys can post pictures of AOE toys in advance but when it comes to me it's like keep it to yourself.

but yeah gotta say the colors are pretty dull, imho. I'll wait for the inevitable Takaratomy repainted / movie accurate color release. :D

I hope Hasbro keeps that in mind for the R.I.D. line... :)

That silver figure on the right looks pretty sharp. I definitely would pick him up. He'd probably look good in blue too...

So, you're complaining about this Grimlock doing something that every other Grimlock does?

    Yeah...that totally makes sense (sarcasm)

I'm complaining in the context on toy engineering could be better for a voyager sized figure.

Nice review. I may end up getting the voyager for the robot mode and the leader for the T-rex.
