Gerwalk mode reminds me of Khyron's Officer battle pod. I like it.

The only reason I would get this is for the character. The transformation is super uninteresting and the alt mode is a gappy mess of obvious robot limbs. Do not like.

But like Whirl...

I really wanted to like this. I'd have bought MTMTE Whirl like a shot, but I have no memories of G1 Whirl at all so this toy for me loses all that character. I know some are saying it's a mix of both, but I'm just not seeing enough of the Whirl I like in that toy.

Perhaps it can be modified and then I'll buy it, til then...

I'll get him just to make my Wrecker collection nearly complete, though he is growing on me.

 

I think the problem for me is that this figure is an absolutely stunning update of the G1 toy, minus the MTMTE head. I have no attachment to the G1 figure or character whatsoever, but I adore Whirl in MTMTE, so obviously I want a figure that replicates that version of the character. It doesn't look like a bad toy at all; in fact, I think it looks really great. It just isn't the right Whirl for me.

Now I must simply endure the interminable wait before he shows up at a store in my area.

 

It's a fantastic figure. For me it's the best Hasbro voyager since FE Bulkhead. The only thing I would change if I could is the feet. I prefer to have my Whirl's legs in the more humanoid configuration but the feet are angled so severely that you have to bend his knees to get him to stand. It doesn't bother me, really, but I would have preferred less angled feet.

Totally love chopper mode. Best looking TF helicopter in quite some time.

 

Even after this nice review I'm totally torn... I can't decide whether I should get him or not.. grrr...

 

Still not a fan of his robot mode, but man, that AH-1 Cobra... wonder if Whirl will get a repaint/mould.

 

This is better IMO.

 

I can't wait to get mine on Monday, he looks so good.

Got a little skittish about Rhinox and DD too, so I have a trio of rad as heck Voyagers coming!

The thigh misassembly irks me.

 

The thighs are the byproduct of the humanoid leg mode being the origin default mode for the legs when the toy was designed. All be it if Hasbro later switched which was the default they should have had the factory switch the thighs, but my guess that change would have been to late for the factory.

 

I'm the only one who's going to ask about this but How about a mini figure in the cock-pit like a DOTM HA figure or one of those mini HALO figures? Can we get pics or something talking about what figure might fit in the opening cock-pit?

Well that fixed up most of my complaints with the chopper mode. The initial pics with the arms hanging off the back were downright bad.
