    I like it...I really do..

But tell me...how the hell is the G1, a what..35 year old toy now? Able to pull off such a better chopper mode?

As a kid, I had a smaller KO of whirl. I guess it was a KO..I think it was dark blue. That was one hell of an attack chopper toy. I appreciated how tight and clean it looked, and I played with it, with any kind of army play..

Robot mode looks cool, but its a product of the alt mode...I can't help but notice those big unnatural chunks hanging off the engines..gappy areas..

I mean..yea..its a helicopter..but when I think "whirl" I think "incredible not to be beat helicopter mode" and this just isn't it. I will buy this, ill probably really enjoy it..but I can't help but think, that they could have done a seriously incredible helicopter mode..one for the ages...and they put out something pretty bland.

Thanks for the review. I've been waiting to see good pics of this one. I'm a huge fan of the G1 whirl..and if I had to pick..I would take the G1 over this any day of the week. They could not beat a 30-35 year old toy..

It goes to show how baddass G1 (and various companies that got sucked up) really was.

Continuing the proud tradition of recent Voyagers being just awesome, it seems. These pics make me really want. I don't see how the feet look MTMTE, myself.

The arms don't point straight back in vehicle mode, though. They fold in half to make solid "thrusters" or whatever.

Because it doesn't need formed robotic limbs with articulation getting in the way.

The chopper looks fine. More than fine considering how well the robot turned out.

I'm glad that it comes with the sticker sheet because I can just wait for the reprolabel one since I always sticker up my bots with them. I like the options given here.

You are correct! Geez, that was a really dumb oversight of me? I'll redo pics of the alt mode tomorrow.

Thanks for the review man! I'm still on the fence about this guy. How are the shoulder joints?

Thanks for the pictures! They look great!

If possible, I have one request: is it possible to see a robot mode pic with the cockpit fully opened? Blades up or down doesn't really matter, but for MTMTE sake up is great. :)

That.....looks AWESOME. Nice review dude, it helps! He looked REALLY short in the box, so it's nice to see that he's about the same size as his fellow wreckers.

can we get a pic of the sticker sheet. I would have to put them on because he looks too plain without any autobot symbols.,

Do you mean how sturdy they are? I think they're pretty good. The black part in between the arm and the shoulder is connecting to both sides via ball joints, so theres a pretty good range of articulation in the arms.

Sure, no problem! I actually hadn't thought of that, it might look good! I'll do them when I finish work.

Not mine, but someone has scanned them here.

Other then the Autobot symbols, I don't think they add a huge amount. Just a few references to the G1 toy.

I can see what looks like 3mm c-clips and bars on him

Do other C-clip weapons attach ok?

There is some in the Whirl news thread, complete with a Macross 1/60 scale pilot.

I'm conflicted. He's so Whirl it hurts, but at the same time he's not really at all like Whirl, at least not the one I fell in love with. It's like getting Animated Dinobots when you wanted Classics. I'm going to get him, but I don't consider him being truly done, if that makes sense.

I see what they're trying to do with the legs, but it just comes across half-assed and undoubtedly added in last minute. The hole-laded side of the thighs being on the outside is a dead giveaway.

The limbs are really bad in copter mode. Simply obscuring the silver would help out a lot.

Thanks SG, you addressed all my concerns about the shoulders.

Just random tech detailing. The old Macross and Mugen Calibur toys had plenty of these.

So do the rotor blades actually lock in place in robot mode at all or do they just flop around?
