Are you kidding? That looks to be the original Dorvack Gazzette that G1 Whirl was recolored from.

EDIT: Yup, that's the original Takatoku Dorvack Gazzette that Hasbro licensed as G1 Whirl back in the early '80s.

Can you get a better shot of the holes where the pegs are supposed to go? Comparing it to mine, something seems wrong with the lowest peg hole. Could just be the angle, though.

Also, those 'flattened' pegs look WAY too long. If you could take a pic with the tail strut halves tabbed fully into place in robot mode configuration, I can compare it with my figure and see if that's also contributing to your problem.

    Thanks for reporting!

Hope this is what you want. I took a shot of the halves tabbed in gerwalk mode rather than robot mode, as I thought that's what you meant (my earlier shots pretty much show it tabbed together in robot mode already). As you can see the halves don't hold together that great in this mode either, and once you tab in the arms for helicopter mode they just completely separate.

Has anyone figured out a fix for the problem where one side of the rotor-housing doesn't tab properly into the tail in robot mode?

I'm wondering if I file down part of either the tab or the slot it won't pop out...

Dang! That eye looks awesome. Is it really that bright in person?
I may have to do that to mine. The light-piping is just not bright enough.

I went ahead and scraped away a bit of the plastic from one end of the slot with a knife. Worked like a charm: It slots in just fine now, and doesn't pop out like it was before.

Got my Whirl all stickered up now, and he looks awesome!

Plus, after 2 days, I'm finding the stiff knee joint is loosened up just a bit. My advice is just to be real careful the first several times you transform him. It's not nearly as scary anymore.

Ok, you've made up my mind, Im painting the eye too! I couldn't decide, but it indeed looks good... The light piping just doesn't work that great. Or maybe it's the plastic not being transparent enough? The back of the head is certainly open enough.

Anyway, NICE job on the thighs too. That looks, to me, to be a PERFECT match!

Anyone else having problems with one half the fuselage not pegging onto the tail in robot mode? Anybody figured out how to fix this?

Yep. It appears to be a recurring problem, but not universal.

may be a little difficult through here, but could i possibly get some guidance into getting the arms to collapse closer like this, thanks.

Just align them more or less straight and press inward. It takes a bit more pressure than you'd normally expect, but they do go in.

It should be noted, that if you rotate the peg thing to the right, DOTM HA Whirl's targetmaster mode can be pegged into the 5mm port in his right arm, and with a bit of finnagling and posing, you can hook his left claw through the handle. It takes some more finnagling to get it to stand without the hips deciding they're tired of helping him stand because those HA basics are the heaviest targetmasters in existence, but I have Whirl wielding Whirl with the c clip gatlings from HA whirl on his arms... It's pretty epic.
