I liked the Cyberverse Commander Optimus. It looked good for its size and had a fairly interesting transformation. But here they just oversized it not at all changing the design (just different ways of joints). I much prefer the first Voyager BH Prime because that was actually designed to be a Voyager. This... just looks weird. And all that glow in the dark (?) plastic...

Commander's transformation is much more interesting imo. On the original Voyager, legs and arms don't even transform. Like, at all. On the Commander (and this one), arms have to be rearranged and you have to wrap that "cage" around the legs. Plus the arms switching side by spinning around the torso is pretty cool.

I think it really helps that the original Cyberverse figure was already pretty good to begin with and translates well to the increased size. I'd certainly be up for certain other Cyberverse Commander figures to be upscaled.

As long as they don't all feature that eye-burning green paint.

    Jeez. He's friggin' huge.

While I was never on the fence about Predaking (it helps that I didn't buy the original voyager ;) ) I wasn't really considering Optimus until now. For about $20 it's going to very hard to pass up a figure this big, even if he is just an upscaled Cyberverse Commander.

I think that size has convinced me to try it. I'm not happy about the lack of a neck though, its a joint that's almost unforgivable to not include on a figure this size, but I'll add a joint or maybe Dr wu will make a replacement that has a neck or something

oh wait... this is actually the voyager? At first glance I thought it's the cyberverse commander version.

honestly I do see why they're simplifying the transformations, afterall most toys are sold to kids, not adult collectors. When it takes minuites to transform a toy kids get put off. My son enjoys his cyberverse toys as toys (play with repeated transform being part of the play) but rather he treated his deluxes/yoyagers as puzzles (transform and play a bit).

So from that regard I think this toy is great, as an adult collector I prefer the rotf transformers the most (and 3rd party these days...).

It's based off the Cyberverse with more sculpted detail, but it's leader-size, sold at Voyager Price.

Odd thing about trying to make the toys easier to transform for kids (which is something I approve of, and embrace) is the Cyberverse transformation scheme is actually more complicated than the original Voyager.

yeah admittedly the cyberverse always got me stuck with the weird chest/arm transformation.

It's odd that despite new tooling for the elbow joints and such, a neck swivel at the very least wasn't added. Battle mask, neck swivel and no green would've made this an instant buy. To me the Cyberverse bh prime had the most accurate silhouette of all hunter prime toys.

yaeh, honestly this doesn't look that bad at all... if it had the neck joins I'd say it's a nice figure. I've always been rather impressed with the prime series cyberverse toys. Always maintained that after the FE, the cyberverse has been the best for the prime line (odd ones like deluxe wheeljack and voyager breakdown being exceptions)

Can we have a close-up shot of the head / face on this Prime? And does his shield retain the "Battle-wing" feature of the Cyberverse version where in it could plug behind Prime's back and serve as a wing pack?

Really, despite knowing that it's basically an upsized Cyberverse toy, hence no neck articulation, I find myself really anticipating getting this... All I have to do is dunk those green bits in silver paint and repaint the windows black...

    jya na!

But the transformation is still simple. It's the original Voyager's that was overly simple.

Gone. I guess they transferred that bit of engineering to the gun who now has some sliding mechanism to launch the missile.

The transformation may be simple but judging from how hunter prime was designed to transform for the show, not surprising, the are of Prime book shows the transformation for the cg model and it's very very simple.

Ordered fron HTS on Thursday, and it arrived today (Saturday).
While not as good as the new Predaking, it isn't bad either. He's VERY hollow from the back, but looks imposing head-on. The green is nauseating but nothing some dye won't fix.
Overall, not a bad $20 toy.
