    Generations Cosmos and Payload

So today the new wave of Generations Legends arrived on my door and while there is already a great thread for the fantastic Swerve, I couldn't see a thread for the also awesome Cosmos, so I thought I'd do a quick review of him.

Cosmos looks pretty darn great in robot mode. I always loved Cosmos from the G1 cartoon because of how cute he was and this toy is definitely adorable. Those big non-threatening blue eyes and huge fists give this guy a lot of character. As per is the standard for the new Generations Legends, Cosmos has excellent articulation, almost as much as you'd expect in a Deluxe figure! He can easily assume a variety of static and action poses.

Cosmos comes packaged with his Targetmaster, Payload. He has a very straightforward transformation into a cannon. The cannon's gigantic and doesn't look like much of anything, but I still like the concept of these Targetmaster pack-ins.

Cosmos transforms into an adorable retro Sci-Fi looking green flying saucer. I really love this mode and am really glad they didn't go for a more modern UFO like the first Legends Cosmos. Payload transforms into a space shuttle and the two look pretty great together. Partnering a UFO with a Space Shuttle was a good idea and the two look good together. The Space Shuttle is definitely Payload's strongest mode, in my opinion.

Here he is with some Classics scale figures. He's a good size for a minibot and looks good on a Classics shelf. Cosmos also seems to be based on his MTMTE appearance, in which he is gigantic, so I think he works well with both normal Classics and the new Generations Legends, so you can put him with whatever ones you prefer!

All in all, an excellent figure. Coming out alongside Swerve, this is probably of my favourite waves ever. Both figures are pretty much perfect in my opinion and can't recommend either enough. I can't wait for Tailgate and Shrapnel!

A flying saucer paired with a space shuttle, too perfect! I wish more sets had that kind of cleverness.
And I love that the red helmets and the blue and yellow parts tie them together.

I bought mine from Robotkingdom, they have pretty great prices for these guys.

Unfortunately Generations is completely cancelled in Australia, so online is the only way for me to get them.

I don't think so. I had a similar problem because I was in America at the time of order and the Australian dollar was doing terribly, so I wanted to pay with my American credit card and avoid being hurt by the exchange rate, but robotkingdom wouldn't let me pay with anything except my paypal, which was linked to my Australian account.

I saw on FB that you can mistranform his hips to make him look more portly ala G1.

Great looking figure, can't wait to own one.

From what I heard, we weren't getting anything past FOC, Metroplex excluded. I managed to pick up IDW Deluxe Wave 1-3, Voyager Wave 1-2 and Legends Wave 1-2 while in America, so I'm up to date for now, but all future waves are going to have to be online.

The Generations Legends line gets better each wave, I feel that Swerve and Cosmos are the best yet which bodes well for Tailgate and Shrapnel.

Did anyone figure out if there is a way to connect Cosmos and Payload together in vehicle mode?

The only way I've discovered are that the front guns on Cosmos plug directly into the back thrusters of Payload's Shuttle Mode, but I'm almost certain its a coincidence.

Its unfortunate that the only place that has this set listed is currently sold out, it looks really excellent.

I saw some at a store and couple conventions post Foc, but like i said, overpriced, probably to cover their own shipping to Australia. Will just look online then. Pity, takes the fun out of going out and finding them. Any recommendations for best places to buy for Australians? I've mostly just found stuff via ebay

Robotkingdom works out best for shipping and you get it fast because they're closer, but I have heard they're unhelpful if your item has a problem, so I prefer to find other stores for more expensive items.

Just got mine today and I LOVE it. I've always had a big soft spot for Cosmos so this thing was one of my most highly anticipated toys of 2013. While I've always liked the Legends Cosmos and thought the iGear UFO was decent (except for the colors), this one surpasses both by a large margin. It just looks perfect in both modes and strikes a nice balance between G1 and IDW. Plastic feels strong, joints are tight, articulation is plentiful - certainly as much as most deluxes and some larger TFs. Double his size and I'd buy him again. Triple or quadruple him and I'd buy him a third time.

Payload is a wonderful little bonus. I've been a space shuttle enthusiast since I was little (won 1st place in a shuttle drawing contest in 1st grade! :D  ) so just like I have a soft spot for Cosmos I have an equal soft spot for Shuttles. He looks great in bot and alt modes and even makes a fine looking blaster.

A couple of notes worth mentioning: There aren't any tabs to hold his legs/saucer front together in alt mode so its easy to end up with a gap there unless you do some massaging.

His waist in bot mode does not want to turn on mine. In order to rotate him at the waist for transformation I have to almost entirely separate the joint (it's a disc that fits into a slot). This doesn't seem right so I'm either doing something wrong or something is obstructing the joint.

Robot kingdom is out of stock :(  Any other recommendations for online sellers?
