    Hi All,

Just a quick review. I picked up the wave today (well my wife did) and have just gotten round to messing around with Skids and boy is he impressive albeit with a few minor issues.

There are some photos and comments along to way so here we go.

First up the vehicle mode which is simple and sleek

    Also MASK anyone?

His transformation is probably comparable to Orion Pax in that there are a few nice quirks to it including rear wheels that end up at the rear underside of the feet and spring loaded shoulder cannons that flip into position much like the comics when his restraints were removed (I forget the specifics of that scene).

Everything locks together nicely including the backpack which comes, out of the box, not completely transformed. The windscreen can be folded back to leave a leaner looking front silhouette.

There are some issues (but not deal breakers).

His shoulders are on balls joints but need to be teased out from the chest and it does feel like you're going to pulls the arms out of the socket but you hear and feel a click and they become mobile. They are still restricted by shoulder cannons though.

Also getting him to stand can be tough. He needs to be positioned just right or he'll topple over which is a little disappointing but he does have ankle tilts which means that with the right leg and foot posing you'll get there eventually.

General articulation is good, one of the better ball jointed heads of recent deluxes allows from a decent range of movement in the head there is a waist swivel but no bicep swivel (that I felt brave enough to test) but there is an elbow swivel. Feet are on balls joints allowing for tilting backward and forwards but you need to get the knees, upper legs and lowers legs (knees and lower legs move independently due to the transformation) just right. He would have really benefits from the rear wheel flipping out to form a larger heel for more stability but it could just be me.

Here's a look at him not locked and loaded. Much of his weaponry can be hidden to give the image of a defenseless Autobot.

His wrist guns can be flipped closed or open and the shoulder cannons look good when they spring into position. He also comes with two additional guns just in case wrist guns, missile pods and shoulder cannons are't enough.

Finally I'll leave you with a parting photo which aims to mimic the comic cover as best as possible which shows you that not only do his guns combine but he can hold them with both hands.

If you'd like any comparison shots with other deluxes or other figures, let me know and I'll do my best to comply.

    Thanks for reading.

nice review! I was wondering when these would start popping up, and here they are! I have a few questions though:

    1. how does he stack up compared to the recent deluxes? is he taller/smaller than them?
    2. he looks back heavy, can he pose with no issues?
    3. is the plastic feel more durable compared to Orion's?

again, thanks for posting this! can't wait to get one for my own!

I like that he can be de-weaponized in robot mode. Having those kind of display options is definitely pleasing.

And painted tail lights - I honestly didn't expect that (these days)!

Thanks for the review! Looking forward to getting him! :)

    1. He's at least the same size, he looks good next to the FOC Seekers in terms of bulk (see pics shortly)
    2. I'm perplexed as to whether he is back heavy or if it is a lack of a heel that is the problem. But he has some stability issues, he can pose but you may need to tinker a bit.
    3. Good question, this feels closer to Generations proper than FOC as an example.

    Most welcome.

I don't think they're supposed to be gull wing doors but now that you mention it they do open for transformation in that manner.

Thanks for the review. He seems to be pretty damn cool....like they should call him, "Skids, the one army bot!" or something like that.

The only thing I'm not feeling is the head sculpt. I mean, I realize that it's IDW Skids, but that particular sculpt - at least to me - looks better suited for a Decepticon. I'll probably swap it out for something else since I have no attachment to the comics whatsoever.

That's a much larger winged backpack than I was expecting, but it's still a cool figure and bought on sight when I find one.

I also wasn't expecting to be able to do an unarmed look, so that's a nice plus.

    Also, where's your Waspy review?

Funny how his vehicle mode looks almost exactly like the live action movie Skids' vehicle mode. I'm going to assume that is intentional.

Still, can't wait to get him to add to the Classics shelf.

The headsculpt doesn't really look a whole lot like his IDW face, either. It's less sharp and a little too long, and the eyes aren't visible enough but paint may fix that.

But man, I want it. It looks a really good size, too. Should gell perfectly with Legends Swerve, and the shot next to Thundercracker seals it.

    Does it, though?

Because the front end couldn't be more different.

it looks really good but I see the arms.. look a bit like crap on articulation? shoulder looks very limited in terms of outward motion.
